Kay, Here's what I found on your GGrandfather, Gottfried Stubbe... much of this may be "old news" to you but wasn't sure what you had. I didn't find his immigration record on Ancestry.com, but from all the references I found, it looks like he came 1854-1858 as dates are not all the same in the various records. Gottfried Stubbe b. 29 April 1829 to Gottfried Stubbe & Anne Louise Sahr in Glashtte, Kreis Filehne, Posen, Prussia (today Huta Szklana, Poland) d. 25 Jan 1911 (Note, there were still Stubbe's in Glashtte and surrounding towns in the 1920's) Wife: Henriette Wandre(y)(i) b. 21 May 1842 Neudorf (not sure what Kreis but I think Kreis Czarnkiau, near Steiglitz & Schoenlanke and today called Nowa Wies, Poland - about 17.5 miles from Glashtte) d. 26 Dec 1907 Married Crystal Lake, Marquette Co, WI in 1858 You might want to check out this website: http://www.netzekreis.de/ Click on the buttons on the left - Ortschaften and Fotoalbum for info on the towns of your ancestors, with pictures too. The best place to go backward for more information is to order the LDS films with church records from Glashtte. The best series of films that I've found for this area is: 808104 - 808125 and 1201275 - 1201280 These films cover the years 1815 - 1874 and are in pretty good shape. Civil transcripts of Protestant and Roman Catholic parish registers of births, marriages, and deaths for Czarnikau, Posen, Germany; now Czarnkw, Poznan, Poland. He settled in the Town of Berlin, we believe in 1854 according to his obituary. I would like to confirm this and also gain access to the passenger list for the ship he came over on. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. > > Thanks, Kay > > ______________________________
