Can anyone tell me when marriage records began in Marathon County? I am looking for verification of a marriage of Francis (Frank) S. Mathie to a Katharina Fischer or Kolter. They married on 10 March 1862 in Wausau. I need to know how the bride is listed ( as Fischer or Kolter) and if her parents names are on the record and if they are what it says. If anyone who has access to the Register of Deeds for marriages at the courthouse and could look this up and see if it there, or who may know of a list of early marriages in Marathon Co, I'd be most appreciative. I'll probably be in the court house on Friday unless someone comes up with something sooner. Remember the issue is not when the records started but if the people took time to record the event.
