Kieffer, Sr., died suddenly at 6:45 o’clock this morning at his home, 1516 1/2 Sixth street, of apoplexy of the heart. He got up as usual at 5:30 o’clock this morning and had started the fires in his home after which he became stricken. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made. The deceased was born July 9, 1876, in Logansport, (NOTE: incorrect-was Lawrenceburg, Indiana) and came to Wausau with his parents when a boy. For a number of years he was engaged in the retail meat business, but for the last nine years has been more or less inactive. He was united in marriage with Miss Annie Tetzlaff in this city. Surviving are his widow, five children, Miss Gertrude Kieffer of Eau Claire, Evelyn, Dorothy, Gordon and John B. Kieffer, Jr., of this city: his mother, Mrs. Agatha Kieffer of Wausau; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Zehire of Minneapolis, Miss Lemina Kieffer of Oconto and Mrs. Hilmar Boerke of Wausau, and five brothers, Clement, Albert, Frank and Edward Kieffer of this city and Louis Kieffer of Antigo."
