John Mauritz, 70, died Saturday evening about 7 o'clock at the home of his son, Lawrence Mauritz, in Dorchester, where he had been making his home the past two years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 o'clock in St. Anthony's Catholic Church at Athens. The Rev. Frank Brickl will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at the Gilles & Son Funeral Home in Antigo, where the rosary will be said tomorrow night at 8 o'clock. Mr. Mauritz was born in the Town of Johnson June 24, 1886, the son of the late Frank and Theresa Mauritz, and was married in 1920 in Athens to Sophia Neuenfeldt, who died in December, 1943. He had farmed in the Town of Johnson until September, 1939, when he moved to the Abbotsford area, where he was employed for 15 years in factories. He was a World War I veteran. After two months' training in Missouri he became ill and was discharged from service. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bernard Ellenbecker, Unity; two sons, John L. and Lawrence Mauritz, Dorchester; a brother, Joseph Mauritz, Town of Johnson; a sister, Mrs. William Proft, Town of Johnson; and 11 grandchildren. Another son, Frank George Mauritz, was killed at the age of 20 years in a car accident in 1952 while he was in military service.
