Eugene P. "Gene" Chauvin Jr., 64, 1608 E. 12th St., Merrill, died Monday morning at Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill. He was born Dec. 30, 1917, in Merrill, son of Eugene and Caroline Chauvin. On Oct. 5, 1940, in Merrill, he married Marie C. Ritchie, who survives. Mr. Chauvin and his wife were co-owners of Gene's Shoe Store, Merrill, for the past 32 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1133, East Side Business Association, Silver "M" Club, Wausau Side Band Club, Central Wisconsin Side Band Club, Northern Wisconsin Side Band Club, America Radio Wisconsin Chapter and North Woods C.B. Club. He was also a charter member of the Barber Shoppers, and a World War II Army veteran. Survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Jean) English, 304 Cleveland St., and Mrs. Rickey (Kerry) Hass, Route 1, both of Merrill; a son, Eugene III, Rollowing Meadows, Ill; three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Hartz, Waukesha, Mrs. Ione Storm, Lawton, Okla., and Mrs. Genevieve Trantow, 1300 N. Ninth Ave., Wausau and three grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday at Taylor Funeral Home at 1 p.m. and at St. Robert's Catholic Church at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Dabruzzi officiating. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where a wake service will be held at 7 p.m.
