Knoll Jr. Stratford: Edward E. Knoll, JR, 72, 807 North Weber Avenue, Stratford, died at 9:48pm Saturday at St Joseph's Palliative Care in Marshfield, where he had been admitted Oct 27. Funeral Services will be at 11am Wednesday at St Joseph?s Catholic Church in Stratford with the Rev. Thomas Rudolph officiating, St Joseph's Church Funeral Choir will provide music and Florence Kaiser will be the organist. Burial will be at St Joseph's Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine in Marathon County. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Tuesday at the Sauter/Kundinger Funeral Home in Stratford and 10 am until service time Wednesday at the church. St Joseph's Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary Service will be held at 4pm Tuesday followed by a combined St Joseph's Parish and Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:30pm. Both will be at the funeral home. He was born Sept 22, 1929 in the town of Eau Pleine to Edward Sr. and Stella Zaleski Knoll.He married Mary Ellen Allen on Oct 28,1950 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. He was a 1947 graduate of Stratford High School. In his earlier years, Ed was a high school basketball referee throughout Wisconsin.This was the sport he also enjoyed playing. He farmed in the town of Eau Pleine and was the first baseman for the Little Rose baseball team. He was active in area bowling leagues serving as league secretary for many years and had served as secretary of a pool league. Eddie enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips to Canada and Wyoming. He spent many weekends fishing in Phillips by his in-laws, While farming, he had his own construction company for many years. In 1981,he and his wife purchased the Bohman?s Bar in Stratford-now known as Knoll?s Bar-which they operated until the present time. He was a member of St Joseph?s Catholic Church in Stratford, an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus John Eisen Council 1799, the Elks Lodge 665 of Marshfield and the Stratford Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mary Jane Knoll and Rose Ann Knoll, both of Madison; a daughter in law, Sharon Knoll of Marshfield, three grandchildren, Maria Molaison, New Glaus, Ryan Kadrlik, Madison and Kerry Knoll, Las Vegas; four great grandchildren, Sean, Rayce, Cutter and Brinna; his mother in law, Elsie Root, Phillips; five sisters, Annette (Ernest) Raschke, Marshfield, Susie Stencil of Edgar, Ann Knoll of Milwaukee, Arlene (Wallace) Stencil of Edgar, and Patricia (Floyd) Hamus of Marshfield; four brothers: Clem (Cathy) Knoll of Franklin, Benny (Rhonda) Knoll and Allie (Diane) Knoll of Stratford and Jerry Knoll of Stratford. He was predeceased by a son, James Edward, who died in 1989, a twin brother who died in infancy, his parents and his father in law, Richard Allen.
