Hello My father-in-law recently showed me a large framed picture of about 75 men dressed in what appeared to be military uniforms. This picture was passed down from his mother or father. In it, there's a mixture of older and younger men so I'm somewhat doubtful that this was an active military unit at the time the picture was taken. The style of uniform reminds me of those worn by Spanish American War vets which of course was in the year 1898. The picture is labeled "Deutscher Krieger Derein 14 Dec 1902". This may be translated as "German Warriors Within 14 Dec. 1902". At the bottom is shown another label "Wausau, Wisconsin". We believe that one of these men would be a distant cousin of my father-in-law's. His name was Charles Pleier. First Question: Have I translated the above correctly? Second Question: What can anyone tell me about this group/military unit? Third Question: If the Unit existed, is it possible to obtain a roster of these men's names to verify that Charles Pleier is actually somewhere in the picture. Thanks for any help!
