HELP HELP ANOTHER CENSUS. I found Gottlieb SCHORER in 1920 census, Wi., Sheboygan, Herman Series T625 Roll 2016 Page 261. Everything is so light that I can't read it. I used Hreitagequest. Could someone use another program and tell me about Gottlieb SCHORER? grandparoy@cox.net
List Members, I am searching for informatioin on the daughters, Mary C. and Jean C. Abrams, of Allen Abrams and his spouse Juanita Spyker. They were born during the 1920's in Wisconsin. Their father was a Chemical Engineer, and the family resided in Marion County, Indiana, and in Wausau, Marathan County, Wisconsin. Their father was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania. I will appreciate knowing about the girls, and their families. If they are still living, or if they have passed away, who they married. I will appreciate their Obituraries also. Shelley, For U.S. records, though you might find a better answer, one opinion I'd value, is John P. Colletta--see pages 117 and 118 of the second edition of "They Came In Ships" (2002) in the section entitled "U.S. Departure Records." The first sentence reads: "Records of passengers departing U.S. ports are close to nonexistent." What records might have been created at the other end of the voyage, in what would've been the German Empire in 1898-99? Would the citizenship status of the the person returning (that is, if he/she had become a U.S. citizen) made a difference? That I don't know--but would you be interested in such records if they exist? >>> <SDGreen715@aol.com> 07/18/05 10:34AM >>> Does anyone know who to contact or how to get emigration records - from the US to Germany in 1898-1899? I seem to only find the other way - from Germany to the US! Shelley
Ok family Please someone be out there with an answer. I have a Thomas Jones bn abt 1841-1843 in NC married to Frances Adeline Queen. Thomas is from North Carolina- was a logger, Met Francis Adeline Queen probably in Tippah Co., MS. They were married in July 25 1861 in Tippah, MS, and then moved to Tennessee for a bit before heading to a logging camp in Trappe, Marathon Co., Wisconsin. He died in a logging mishap in Jan 1880. The accident occured on New Years day and one paper stated that he died the Saturday after. So I assume he died either Jan 3 or the 10th. I have one deed in Tippah MS to W.T. Jones and wife Frances Adeline Jones for Aug 7 1876. This is the only place I find a W. before his name. I would assume it stands for William but cannot verify that. He had 7-10 children. However most died early of TB. His childrens names that I have are: Thomas, Alice, Delilah Anna, James Maradie E., William, and Francis Parrylee. Does anyone know anything about this family? I am hoping. One newspaper article states that he was buried at the Episcopal church in Wausua. I assume that in 1880 there was only one Episcopal church in Wausau. A Rev Armstrong was officiating. Widow Francis Parrylee is in Wausaw, WIsconsin in the 1880 census . However, that census states her deceased husband was born in MS I think this is an error. Thanks for any help possible. Wendy P. from San Antonio, TX
Shelley.... I tried that route several years ago with the first wife of my grandfather's brother that went back to Germany (reverse immigration) because there were too many earthquakes and Indians (according to the divorce papers in Clark County)!! I contacted the Wisconsin Historical Society and the federal immigration department in Washington, D.C. and the word from both was that no index was kept for people leaving the US (for whatever reason), only people entering the US. Deep down, I think there has got to be some type of record somewhere. Maybe a ship passenger list but then, you have to know the date(s) and ship.... so, that opens another "black hole!" Due to the overwhelming number of requests I have received in the past few days, I am asking that everyone please use the format shown below to submit any new requests to me. It is just too time consuming for me to have to read through two pages of information to find out what someone is looking for. This does not pertain to the requests that I have already received through today. They have all been received and I am currently working on them. There is not a limit to how many people you can request on your list within reason. I just ask to keep it short and sweet. :-) Also, a note that I do not have access to any of the more recent newspapers after the period of the 1970's. For those who are looking for something more recent, I suggest checking the current newspaper websites, Ancestry.com, or the particular List for the counties you are searching. There is also a new website which is www.funeralnet.com which has links to some funeral homes with recent obits from 1999 to the present. Format for Requesting Lookups: 1) Type of article requested: Obituary, Marriage Notice, Wedding Announcement, Special Interest 2) Name of person you are looking for - include any middle initials and husband's first name if it is a woman. Note: There are many times when I find an obituary under "Mrs. John Smith" rather than "Mrs. Mary Smith" 3) Date of death, date of marriage (approximate dates are fine or time periods if unknown) 4) If looking for obituaries, it is nice to have children or close relatives names that could be listed to make sure I have a match - just a few is fine. It's hard when it is a common last name like Smith or Jones - like looking for a needle in a haystack. 5) Any special note of interest: (i.e., drowned, suicide, in prison, etc.) This kind of information is always helpful also. 6) Please do not give me a 2 - 3 page explanation of who you are looking for. Although you may think it helps me, it does not. It just takes more time for me to figure out who you are looking for and takes time away that I could be searching for you and for others. Thank you all for your requests and you will be hearing from me soon. Michelle

Dear Listers and Administrators, Let me introduce myself. I am a genealogy buff just like all the rest and have 90% of my family located in WI. I do lookups for people in newspapers that I have available to me for the WI area. I do not do this for self gain, only to help others who have hit a brick wall. I have been there myself and know what it is like. I do not charge for any of the many hours I spend doing these lookups. I only ask for reimbursement of the copies and the postage which is very minimal. I do work a full time job during the week and am only able to do these lookups in my free time in the evenings and on the weekends. I do tend to get swamped with requests so I ask for your patience. This does take time away from my family and my own family tree. Last December I posted a list of WI newspapers that I have access to and am willing to do lookups for obits and other special articles. At that time I stated that I would update the list as more become available. Below you will see an update of that list without the time frames. Since as you can see, this is a very extensive list, I thought it would be easier for those interested to email me and I can provide you with a more extensive list showing the specific time frames I have available. For those who are interested in lookups, please note that the more information you can provide me with, the easier it makes it for both of us. Especially for the ones that may have info available through the obit indexes, this really speeds things along. Please see the list below. If you would like me to, I can get in touch with her for youy. Let me know.... Amber, I have been referred to you by Romy Myszka whom I stumbled onto during my search for my ancestors, the Schilling family, who were pioneers in rural Marathon County, namely the Wausau area. My father who passed away in 1995 was Robert Schilling, born and bred in Wausau. He was one of 12 children of parents Francis Xavier (known simply as "FX") and Catherine Deininger. He was the grandson son of Anthony and Margaret Fischer. Anthony and a brother, Romuald, had immigrated here from Bavaria in the mid-1850's. Their brother, Robert had arrived there a year prior. Romuald susequently became a Civil War veteran. I have in my possession the complete lineage which had been given to the family by one of Anthony's daughters, Anna Schilling who became Sister Everlidis. She had written a very compelling narrative of her parents struggle to arrive in Wisconsin and establish a home. I have re-typed that and sent it to Romy Myszka at her request to be contributed to the website. If you are interested I can also forward it to you. Romy said that you are very active in the Marathon County historical endeavor and suggested that you might be able to fill in a few missing gaps to the information that I already have. My interest mainly is in Francis Xavier Schilling, my grandfather. I can't seem to pull up anything on him, yet, through my mother, I have learned that he was very active in the area with something to do with World War I flour rationing circa 1914. He was also very politcally active as an assembyman in the Senate in Madison, Wisconsin, the Capitol. He also taught school during those years, probably a German speaking school. There was some sort of a scandal Mom has heard about him concerning the flour rationing. Well, thank you for any light that you many be able to shed on the Schillings and I will be anxious to hear from you. S. Faith Schilling-Vivolo Fort Laudedale, Florida
