    3. Kay, Here's what I found on your GGrandfather, Gottfried Stubbe... much of this may be "old news" to you but wasn't sure what you had. I didn't find his immigration record on Ancestry.com, but from all the references I found, it looks like he came 1854-1858 as dates are not all the same in the various records. Gottfried Stubbe b. 29 April 1829 to Gottfried Stubbe & Anne Louise Sahr in Glashtte, Kreis Filehne, Posen, Prussia (today Huta Szklana, Poland) d. 25 Jan 1911 (Note, there were still Stubbe's in Glashtte and surrounding towns in the 1920's) Wife: Henriette Wandre(y)(i) b. 21 May 1842 Neudorf (not sure what Kreis but I think Kreis Czarnkiau, near Steiglitz & Schoenlanke and today called Nowa Wies, Poland - about 17.5 miles from Glashtte) d. 26 Dec 1907 Married Crystal Lake, Marquette Co, WI in 1858 You might want to check out this website: http://www.netzekreis.de/ Click on the buttons on the left - Ortschaften and Fotoalbum for info on the towns of your ancestors, with pictures too. The best place to go backward for more information is to order the LDS films with church records from Glashtte. The best series of films that I've found for this area is: 808104 - 808125 and 1201275 - 1201280 These films cover the years 1815 - 1874 and are in pretty good shape. Civil transcripts of Protestant and Roman Catholic parish registers of births, marriages, and deaths for Czarnikau, Posen, Germany; now Czarnkw, Poznan, Poland. Also includes some protestant entries. Some years include the following towns: Altsorge, Behle, Briesen, Czarnikau-Umgebung, Eichberg, Filehne, Glashtte, Grnthal, Hammer, Jgerburg, Kamiennik, Mariendorf, Milkowo, Mischke, Neuhfen, Neusorge, Pietrowo, Putzig, Radolin, Romanowo, Runau, Sarbia, Schneidemhlchen, Smieskowow, Sokolowo, Zawady, Sophienberg, Fitzerie, Lukatz, Fissalm, Grnfier, Prossekel, Kienwerder, Gornitz, Gro Kotten, Stieglitz, Pilka, Ascherbude, Budewerder, Gro Drensen, Klein Drensen, Marienbusch, Ludwigsdorf, Selchow, Sosko, Lubass, Putzig Hauland, Wronke, Romanshof, Hansfelde, Althtte, Hollnderdorf, Gro Lubs, Klein Lubs, Selchowhammer, Czarnikauer Hammer, Follstein. 1. Wausau - Deutscher Krieger Military Unit
    2. Hello My father-in-law recently showed me a large framed picture of about 75 men dressed in what appeared to be military uniforms. This picture was passed down from his mother or father. In it, there's a mixture of older and younger men so I'm somewhat doubtful that this was an active military unit at the time the picture was taken. The style of uniform reminds me of those worn by Spanish American War vets which of course was in the year 1898. The picture is labeled "Deutscher Krieger Derein 14 Dec 1902". This may be translated as "German Warriors Within 14 Dec. 1902". At the bottom is shown another label "Wausau, Wisconsin". We believe that one of these men would be a distant cousin of my father-in-law's. His name was Charles Pleier. First Question: Have I translated the above correctly? Second Question: What can anyone tell me about this group/military unit? Third Question: If the Unit existed, is it possible to obtain a roster of these men's names to verify that Charles Pleier is actually somewhere in the picture. Thanks for any help! She came to the US with her parents Christian and Marta Anderson, along with an older sister Anna, born Sept. 22, 1859. According to Martha's mother's natualization records, Marta was born April 19, 1839 in Soler or Soles, Norway. The family left Norway from Christiana on June 10, 1866 and arrived at the port of Detroit on the Great Northern Railroad on Aug. 12, 1866. They settled in Wausau, Marathon County, Wisconsin. I have not been able to find the family in Wisconsin or Norway. Marta applied for citizenship in 1906 in Kidder County, North Dakota. She said her husband, Christ Olsen, died in 1901 in Minnesota. I'm assuming, Christ Olsen, may have been her 2nd husband. Any assistance is most appreciated!! Thanks! Kathie
