His wife, Catherine, and two children, Josef and Marianna, came in 1884. The ship records gives them as from Posen. In the Hamburger Auswandererlisten they are listed as from Posen, in the Province of Posen. Joseph married Zofya JAKUBOWSKI (widow) nee MACHINSKI in Jersey City, NJ, 1901, and in 1902 started using the name CUSTY on public records, although the children were baptized at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church (Polish) with the name, SIKORSKI. Many descendants remained in Jersey City and nearby towns. Marianna (Mary) married Anthony SIUDZYNSKI by ca. 1891, perhaps in NY, where at least one child was born. They moved back to Jersey City by 1900, and at some point moved to Brooklyn where the widow, Mary, and two grown children are listed on the 1930 census. Marianna and children moved once more to Jersey City where she died in 1943, Anthony Jr. died in 1949. They are buried with Michael and Catherine SIKORSKI, Holy Name Cemetery. A John SIKORSKI seems related to this family. There was a daughter , Emily, and a son, Steven, who married first in East Islip, NY ca. 1931, and second in Ticonderoga, NY ca. 1942. Nothing further known.

This document had allowed me to locate and speak to his half brother...who has been able to provide some further details regarding Aunt Agnes' life and untimely death. Unfortunately the family monument in Allouez Cemetery, between Green Bay and Du Pere, is too old to reveal precise death dates for she and her daur. So the search continues--between January 1920 and April 1922 for the date of the deaths of AGNES KENNEDY DESNOYERS and her infant daur. Since her husband Frank L Desnoyers was city editor and reporter for the Green Bay Press Gazette, there is most likely an obituary there for them. And record in the diocesan records for Green Bay/Brown....where I will return in this search--unless someone here might have access to those records? Again, my gratitude to those of you who have helped. Joan

    1. New Online Tools from Wisconsin Historical Society
    2. Melissa McLimans
    3. The Wisconsin Historical Society is very proud to announce the Dictionary of Wisconsin History (http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/dictionary/). The online dictionary gives more than 2,000 brief lives of famous Wisconsin people (and many not-so-famous ones). It provides the exact location of every community and civil township in the state, and explains how every county and 800 cities and towns got their names. You can even display a map or satellite image of any city, town, or village with a single click. The dictionary includes mid-19th century descriptions of about 500 Wisconsin cities and towns from contemporary gazetteers and travel guides, too. You can imagine how this could help your genealogical research or just give you some interesting facts about Wisconsin history. We also encourage you to submit entries to help us grow the dictionary. The Society has also been busy adding 3,500 entries to the Wisconsin Name Index (www.wisconsinhistory.org/wni). For those of you unfamiliar with the name index, it was started about 1870, when WHS staff made a catalog card for every biographical sketch in each new Wisconsin county history. They made a similar card for every obituary added to the scrapbooks they called the "Wisconsin Necrology," and frequently added cards for magazine and newspaper articles about Wisconsin residents. After more than a century of such work, the data on the original cards was typed into a database that you can search online today. This time we have indexed Wisconsin World War Obituaries, a three volume scrapbook, containing newspaper articles and obituaries about the men and women of Wisconsin that served in the military during World War II. The index is available for you to find listings of your ancestors at your local library, through library loan or you can order copies from our Wisconsin Genealogical Research Service (www.wisconsinhistory.org/genealogy/ogrs). Please forgive the length of this post. I hope you have found it useful. Best, Melissa

    2. Alan Leighton
    3. Hello, I just recently found out that my great-grandmother, Auguste Maria Louise SCHULZE, who was born and raised in Wausau and married her first husband there (William H. HOMRIG), married a 2nd time, to Charles GARSKE, and moved with her new husband to Garske, ND, where she died. I have now ordered and received her death certificate, and because she was associated for most of her life with Wausau, I would like to share the information contained in it with this list, and offer some corrections to the mistakes I see there. A transcript of the certificate is below. I would be very interested to know more about this Charles GARSKE. I have found him in North Dakota in the Federal Censuses of 1900, 1910, and 1920, and in the Dakota Territorial census of 1885. But so much is missing. Any further information would be greatly appreciated. In particular, I understand that he immigrated first to Wausau before homesteading in N.Dak., and that he returned to Wausau at the end of his life, where he died and was buried. I suspect he was also married there too, but that is a mere hunch. The 1910 federal census has iformation on year of immigration nautralization status and the 1900 census has yr on naturalization, immigration and lenght of time in USA. Then once you have that you can figure out where they might have been at that time. Before about 1900 most declarations of intent were filed with the county courthouses. After1900 or so it was probably with the federal court having jursidiction for that area. Good Luck! Rob

His name was Louis Eisold. In some places he is referred to as Ludwig. He bas born in approx. 1855. I know the circumstances of his death and the approximate date from a letter my grandfather wrote in late August of 1923 .These are the facts I know: Louis was married to Augusta Miller(or Muller). She Died on late Dec. 1920 in Door County. They had eight children: Lydia, William, Frances, Frank, Hilda, Harvey, Walter, and Howard. Louis died in either late July or August of 1923 after being hit by an automobile and striking his head on the pavement. There was a settlement by the driver's insurance company. He was approximately 68 years old at the time. I believe accident occurred in or near either Wausau or Eau Claire. My grandfather wrote a letter that came from Eau Claire where his brother Harvey lived at the time. However he had other siblings living in Wausau at that time. Also the last residence I can find for Louis is Wausau. I believe that Louis was Lutheran. I hope that this is enough information to help someone to locate the death and/or burial information that I am seeking. I also wondered if the accident might have been mentioned in the local newspaper since so many fewer people drove cars back then. Eileen Tanguay
