This isn't one of my direct lines, but I was wondering if you had information on Minnie M. Kamliebe (I'm not sure about the spelling of her last name.) She married into my line (Gustov Kuehn), but before she did so she had married a man named Leubke and had two children, Walter and Elsie (B 1889-1892). Minnie was born in Pommerania 10 May 1870 and immigrated to the US in 1881. She would have been married to Mr. Leubke from about 1888-1896 more or less. > Minnie married Gustov about 1897. I think the family moved from Stettin/Rib Falls to Milwaukee about 1900. > Perhaps you are connected to this family? Thanks, Eric >
Am looking for any information on a Thomas Jones. He was married to Francis Adelaide Queen. They lived in the logging camp of Trapp, Wisconsin. He was hit by a falling tree on New Years Day 1880 and died the following Saturday. He was buried near the Episcopal church where a Rev. Armstrong officiated. His children were Thomas, Alice, Anne, James. Francis Parrylee, Maraday, Willie. Any information on this family would be appreciated. I am totally stumped. Any information about the Trapp logging camp would also be appreciated. Thanks you are all super stars Wendy from San Antonio
Hello, Just a suggestion....I noticed that many times people will ask for information on someone without saying where they could be from. It would be a big help if everyone would state the place where they think the ancestor was born, wed, died, whatever, if they know it. This is especially good when it is a common name. Just my 2 cents worth. Judy StateznyUlch

Bill In speculative defense of those who replied to me only, perhaps they felt that the information they were offering was already well known to list subscribers. In any case, whether to reply to sender or list is not always an easy call. The message I sent (included below) did go to the entire list and contained in the second line the name of the town, "Merrill," which had been offered as the location of the former "Jenny" in two separate messages that were sent to me personally. Probably I should have made it more obvious. Sorry. To be honest, because the default for this list is for replies to go only to the sender, I thought I might be scolded for sending to the entire list, but I wanted to let the list know that I had received help and to reduce "clutter" by sending only one reply even though I was responding to two messages. Also, in another reply to sender, a WIMARATH subscriber informed me of an abandoned population center called Jenny near Crandon in Forest County. Thanks to all for your help. -rex ----- Original Message ----- From: Rex To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, September 27, 2002 7:32 PM Subject: Re: [WIMARATH-L] Where's Jenny? Thank you Sharon and Alice. Looks like that was an easy one for you. Checking my 2002 roadmap of Wisconsin I see that Merrill is not far from Wausau. This makes me suspect I have "the other" William Averill who keeps popping up. I have seen him listed repeatedly on land records filed in Wausau during that era as a "junior," which rules him out. My Wm. A. was not a jr. and was probably in Weyauwega, Waupaca County at that time, 1864 -- though I can't prove it, he was there at age 13 living with his parents in the 1860 census. Hello, Marathoners . . . Can someone please tell me where the town or village of Jenny was or is located? It does not appear on my Wisconsin roadmap. It did not appear on the Marathon County website's list of place names. From a web search I learned that in 1880 it was in Lincoln County, which had been formed "almost entirely" from Marathon County (correct me if I am wrong here!). Perhaps the place that was called Jenny is still populated but is now called something else, or is part of some larger populated area. Or perhaps it simply no longer exists. But maybe someon can at least give me some idea of where it was located. One of my ancestors appears to have enlisted in Co. C, 37th Reg't. in 1864 during the War of the Rebellion. Jenny, Wisconsin was listed as his place of residence. His name was William Averill. Thanks for any help, -rex Tallahassee, North Florida

If that is so how? She was given copies of coorespondance relating to a visit to Vienna Austria in which a Marcel Kumberg told her that they were in fact from the same family or a conection thereof. He was to send her the proof when he got out of the hospital and since she never heard from him again it is assumed that he died. I have had no luck looking up the kumbergs and am wondering if perhaps I could find a connection between the two families and find some of my grandmothers ancestors that way. She is a descendant of William Frank Kumberg born in Arnstadt Germany in 1846. He landed in New york worked in New York, New Orleans, and St. Louis and later to Atchison KS. as a shoemaker. He married Carolyn Karksick of Missouri in 1875 and the moved to Kansas. Any information would be appreciated.
