As a historian/genealogist I recognize the importance of the TVA project during the New Deal in the 1930s. Although none of my ancestors were involved, nevertheless, tens of thousands of people were displaced, and towns and cemetaries submerged in the flood waters. These people went many directions and won't show up until the 1940 census is released in 2012. Some moved long distances, but the numerous jobs created through the construction of dams, electric power generators and grids, planting by hand thousands of acres of tree seedlings, and numerous other new job opportunities provided jobs whereby many of the displaced did not move that far. A solution to the problem with the numerous postings to the Wilson and other sites might be the creation of a message board for TVA DISPLACED which would bring together those searching for ancestors of all surnames.
