Hello all. I have been a silent lurker on this list so this is my first post. It is not a typical genealogical query, but I hope you will understand my need to ask. I also realize it is not proper to inquire about living people, but if any of what I am about to say sounds familiar, please pass my email address on to anyone you think may be 'interested'. Thank you. I am an adoptee who is searching for her birthmother. I have been utilizing a court-appointed search intermediary but she is stuck and we are both frustrated. This is all I know: My birthmother was a Wilson, born in the second half of January 1943, in Louisiana. She gave birth to me 21 May 1964 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She named me Dolores Ellen Wilson, then after relinquishing me moved to Dallas, Texas to be with her family. Due to closed adoption laws my search agent is not allowed to tell me my birthmother's first name, but said that she was unable to obtain my birthmother's birth certificate from Louisiana because there was more than one person of the same name born on the same day in the state. That leads me to believe it must be a fairly common first name. She also hypothesized that my birthgrandfather might have been in the military, as the records show that my birthmother moved quite a lot as a child, living all over the place. I am not looking to invade someone's life, only to have a sense of my own history. I have done my adoptive parents' genealogy for years, but it is not satisfying. I want to know who *I* am, something I think all genealogists can understand. I could turn out to be related to any one of you! Thank you again for letting me ask this. My alternate email address is couponqueen64@yahoo.com just in case this one ever is unreachable. Feel free to forward this letter to anyone you wish.
