    1. [WILSON-L] William C. Wilson
    2. Does anyone have any information about William C. Wilson , son of James Wilson and his wife Mary, who was born about 1829 in Newberry , South Carolina and married Harriet Herbert Dewalt, daughter of Daniel DeWalt III and Sara Waters? Apparently, Sara Waters DeWalt came to Texas and died in Washington County, Texas ca 1867. Also. two of William C. Wilson's children a Walter Herbert Wilson lived in Houston, Texas and Clara Waters Wilson lived in Galveston. If anyone has any information about William C. Wilson, please contact me Rick Reed at Finder5050@aol.com. Thanks, Rick Reed

    2. Rick, I doubt there is a connection but if your Wilsons had connections to GA and AL and later to TX, there might be a chance. My great grandfather, Abraham/Abram Wilson, is the first one I can find and I found him on the 1870 Morgan Co, AL census. I have no idea if Abraham/Abram was his first or middle name. According to this census, he was born unknown county of GA ca 1850-51. He is living in the home of a Mary Woodall, born ca 1837 SC. Family lore says that Abe's family was from SC before going to GA. I do not know the names of Abe's parents or siblings and I'm having a very difficult trying to identify them without their names. He may be only one of them to venture on up to AL. Since he named his only child William Wilson, I have to wonder if his father could have been a William, maybe a William Abraham. He may possibly have had a sister named Sarah, born ca 1848-49 unknown county of GA. He married Sarah Jane Nesmith, d/o Robert Martin Nesmith, in neighboring Lawrence Co, AL in Oct of 1870. He disappeared in the Spring of 1874, just weeks before Sarah Jane gave birth to William Martin Wilson. His body was never found an the family supposedly never heard from him again. About 1896, William Martin Wilson left AL and came to TX, settled in Navarro County Tx, married Katie Lee Hardy of Panola Co, TX and started a family. He named one of his sons Walter Abraham. In the ensuing years, this family lived for a short while in Rusk County but stayed mostly in the Central Tx areas of (1) Dawson, Navarro Co TX; (2) near Hubbard, Hill Co TX, (3) Limestone Co and (4) Teague, Freestone County TX. For reason still unknown to my family, they did go to Jefferson Co, OK ca 1906 but came back to TX around 1914. William Martin was a Baptist circuit riding preacher most of his adult life. If you see anything familiar, please let me know. Paula ASSOCIATED SURNAMES: NESMITH, WOODALL, VEST, RAINS/RAINES/ HAMPTON and others.
