Harold and other listmembers, I too have a John Wilson that I'm searching for. some of the information I have seen come across has peaked my interest and I hope with enough eyes looking right now some one my have some information to help me as well. My John Wilson from what I can tell came from Ky. (don't know where) He was born November 16, 1793. At some point he moved to Morgan Co., Illinois. I have a letter of consent signed by John for his son Richard B. to marry a Keziah Tunnell on 8-18-1836 in Morgan Co., Illinois. The Tunnell family is also known to have come from somewhere in Ky. So I'm hoping the two families traveled together. The only children I know of right now for John is a daughter Sarah b. abt. 1814 possibly in Ky. who d. 5-22-1863 in Manchester, Scott County, Illinois and who married a Rollen Caddwell. The other child I know of is my direct line thru Richard B. he was born abt. 1819 probably in Ky. moved to Illinois where he married raised his family and died. Because Sarah is shown as being the older of the 2 children I'm hoping she was named after her mother. All these family members are buried next to each other in a family plot in Manchester, Ill. There is one broken headstone where it's difficult to read but I believe it reads Sarah and it's next to the headstone of John Wilson b. 11-16-1793 d. 10-13-1844. 50 y 10m 27 d. Does anyone recognize any of these names? In particular a John Wilson and Sarah (?) Wilson who probably married in Kentucky as they probably grew up somewhere there as well. Roberta
The Wilsons are driving me nuts, as it appears with everyone else. My John Wilson and wife Elizabeth Chinn m.1796 and were from Loudoun/Fauquier Co. Va. Son Rawleigh Chinn Wilson m. Callia T. Rice b. 1810 Thompson Co. KY. and they moved to Herald's Prairie, White Co. IL, his brother John Stretchley Wilson m. Harriet Blue and he died in Union Co. KY., sister Jane Elizabeth Wilson m. Philander Berry and she died in Union Co. KY., sister Lucy Jones Wilson m. Ferdinand Crebs and she died in White Co. IL....... 1st son Rawleigh's son William Berry Wilson m. Sarah Elizabeth Hays who was from Monroe Co. KY, both died in White Co. IL. I put all these names in because the Wilson name as well as the given names are all so common and with the amount of children born to each family can spread Wilsons all over the county. I hope anyone seeing the subject line with Wilsons in KY, IL, MO may recognize the spouse names. Good luck to ALL Wilson's. Arrrrggggggg.
