I don't know if my great-grandfather Eliga/Elijah Wilson married anyone in Savannah, Chatham, Georgia or not but there is a story that he lived with his wife there and she died in a house fire and then he is supposed to have "walked" to Pisgah, Jackson, Alabama and married a Sarah E. Stogsdill in May of 1869. He was born in South Carolina of unknown {to me } parents in ca. 1832/1835. I have no other information on him during that era. I only have information on him after 1869. His name was Eliga{as on the tombstone}/Elijah Wilson. I would appreciate any information that you could find on him about the possible marriage in Georgia. I know that it maybe just a family folk story but there is a very slight chance that it might be the truth. At this point I am willing to try anything.
