I have posted to this group also and still this family has not located the parents and what happened to the elusive John W. Wilson, born Texas, listed with wife Vada and twin daughters Merlene and Alene in Dawson County, Texas 1930 Census. They had another daughter born in 1931; John is missing from then on. Even in this census, there is an indication that he was not present then. Descendants are searching for possibilities - what happened to JOHN W. WILSON?? County records have no reference of a death, or Find A Grave doesn't provide any info. Vada, his wife, returned to Bosque County, TX and married again in 1935 to Mize Arther, and they raised the daughters, after one of the twins (Merlene) died at age 6 months and was buried in the area of Lamesa, Dawson, TX. Since I am in the United Daughters of the Confederacy, here is a thought. I know he was young for the War Between the states, but there were kids in the war as young as 12 some as drummers or carried the Regimental Flag and this was an important job for the men. He could have suffered from. According to your post he was among lots of women; perhaps the only man at home during the war. I did some checking, for Abraham Wilson in these units Confederate 25th Tenn Infantry was 30 years old at the time of enlistment Union 13th TN Cavalry was 18 years old at the time of enlistment 59th Confederate Inf. Cooks Div. 26 years old at the time of enlistment There was a Marshall's Co TN Artillery, I couldn't find without a lot of research. There was several A. Wilson's or A. J. etc initials that I didn't research Dekalb County AL is close to the Tennessee border and he may have had to cross the line to enlist in the Union armies. Dekalb County was highly Confederate. This is just some ideas for you to look further as his time of birth was during a difficult time of our history and reconstruction. First found on 1850 West Amunchee, Walker Co GA with 9 children and wife, Sarah "mnu" Wilson. She could be a 2nd wife. First 5 children born SC, other 4 born GA. My great gfather, Abraham, was the 10th born, either in GA or AL. Family moved to DEKALB Co Al after 1850 and show up on that county census in 1860. Children: Benjamin W. E. Wilson 1829 SC Mary M. 1836 SC Abby L. 1838 SC Martha A. 1839 SC James 1841. SC Susy C. 1843 GA Jerry M. 1845 GA Minerva J. 1847 GA Sarah E. 1849. GA Abraham 1852 GA or AL Have some info on some of the children but would appreciate more. Hope to hear from other Wilson researchers.
