Looking for any info on the ancestry of my gggrandfather, John Oscar Wilson, b. 29 Nov 1868 in Ellis Co., TX. He was married to Dora Sitton. In the 1880 Ellis Co., TX census I find John listed as a step-son of Stephen Lewis Akin. John's mother is listed as A.C. This could also be R.C. (A's and R's are similar in shape). I've also found Stephen Lewis Akin buried in the Keeter Cemetery in Wise Co., TX next to Rhoda Catherine Akin (R.C.?). Also listed in the 1880 Ellis Co., TX census as step-son is William L. Wilson, two years older than John Oscar. Middle name was likely Luther or Luke, according to a great-great aunt (daughter of John and Dora, stating that Uncle Luther or Luke used to visit them from Texas. My questions are who was John and Williams father? Was A.C. or R.C. (the mother) widowed? What was her real name and maiden name? Does anyone have any young Wilson men born in the mid 1840's that were killed or died in northeast Texas in the 1860's leaving a widow and two boys? Bryan
