I am researching Daniel Wilson from Preble Co. Ohio. There seem to be a preponderance of Daniel Willson/Wilson's so it is hard to track him down. He is my 3x great grandfather. I have no birth or death date for him and no parentage. His oldest daughter, Mary Ann Wilson Blake, was born about 1822 in Ohio. His wife, Catherine Rock, was born in 1796 in South Carolina. According to the 1880 census for Mary Ann Wilson Blake her parents were both born in South Carolina. The name has variously been spelled Willson or Wilson. According to family records Daniel may have drowned in the mid 1840's. Other known children of his include James Riley Wilson/Willson, Thomas Wilson/Willson. Many of the children and their families ended up moving to Louisa Co. Iowa late 1840's I have found a Daniel Willson in the 1840 census in Israel Township, Preble Co. OH. It may matchup with the Daniel that I am looking for. If this is our Daniel his age at that time would have been between 50 and 60. There is a female listed that would match Catherine's age at that time...between 40 and 50 years of age. Has anyone on the list researched or claimed this Daniel Willson from the 1840 census? .
