Hello, I am searching the family of my grandfather Earl Kelly Wilson, born 1901 in Webster Co. WV. His father was James L. Wilson, born about 1849. I am not sure who James L's father was. I think it was Daniel Wilson, son of William F. Wilson, son of William Wilson Jr., son of William Wilson Sr., (father of Col. Benjamin Wilson.) This is my theory. William F. Wilson is living in Barbour Co. in 1850. He is living two doors down from his son Daniel, with his son James L. Wilson, age 1. In 1851, that part of Barbour turns into Upshur Co. and James L. is there in 1860 and 1870. Before 1880 James L. Wilson marries Bell Lee and is living with her family in Webster Co. WV. Bell dies before 1900 and 50 year old James L. marries his neighbor's 24 year old daughter, Delilah Cogar, my G-grandmother. I am looking at land records and see that a William F. Wilson owned land in Randolph and Barbour counties. There are a lot of Wilson's that own land in the 1790's Randolph County. I think at least some of these are Col. Benjamin Wilson's brothers. Do you have the list with William Wilson Sr.'s children? Also. William Jr. had a son, William Friend Wilson. I found a story that a Joseph Friend left a daughter, Polly, in the care of William Sr., (father of Col. Ben) and that she died in Webster Co. WV. Mary Bird Wilson, daughter of Col. Ben, died in Braxton Co. in 1837. There is a chance that she was also in the same area as Polly Friend as Webster was not formed until 1863 , from part of Braxton Co. Any help you can provide to me with my theory would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, Allen F. Wilson Jr.
