    3. Susan, I think Mark is right about the Scots-Irish who came in through PA. I am a Southerner and was surprised to find out when I got back far enough that our Wilsons who seem so very "Southern" (One of my greatuncles was named Robert E. Lee Wilson, and my Wilson greatgreatuncle fought for the Confederacy and had an Arkansas Confederate pension.) came into this country in PA. They were in Cumberland Co., PA before following the path of many Scots-Irish down the Great Wagon Road through the Appalachians to Mecklenburg Co., NC.
