Glad to see discussion about Y-DNA testing for male Wilson ancestry. It's so important to use DNA as a means to either include or exclude possible related families. It saves time and money in the long run! I'm the group administrator of the "Wilsons of East Ohio" project on FamilyTreeDNA.com. I encourage fellow listers with Wilson ancestors who lived in Eastern Ohio in the late 1700s to mid-1800s to join. The goal of the project is to attempt to sort out the many Wilson families using DNA who lived in the following counties: Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Gallia, Guernsey, Harrison, Hocking, Holmes, Jackson, Lawrence, Jefferson, Knox, Licking, Mahoning, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, Perry, Stark, Tuscarawas, Vinton, Wayne, and Washington. With enough participants, my hope is to be able to provide the Y-DNA "signature" for every Wilson family in these locations by census year so that everyone better target their research. If you have tested your Y-DNA on FamilyTreeDNA.com or have uploaded your Y-DNA from another testing lab to FamilyTreeDNA, you can join the group at: www.familytreedna.com/public/WilsonNEOhio/ Individuals who join the group receive a $20 discount off the Y-37 paternal DNA test.
