Clara: I currently live in Maryland just south of Cecil County and have spent a bit of time researching the Wilsons here. The earliest Wilson's came here about 1700 direct from Ulster Plantation because the English were losing business to the Scotch Irish and began over taxing them. They moved west across PA and down the Wilderness path to Southwest VA and on to KY and NC. Another strain of what seems to be a later strain of Wilson's descend from a Christopher Wilson who was an early minister in Cecil county and they drifted south down into Harford and Baltimore County. The Baltimore City Wilson's descend from James Wilson a very early Scotch Irish shipping magnate and descendants who were prominent business people in Baltimore.
