    1. [WILSON] Re: MIGRATION PATTERN OF SCOTCH-IRISH WILSONS ca 1700’s & 1800’s
    2. Paula: My Wilson line did not enter through GA.  My oldest documented ancestor is David Wilson.  He was born January 30, 1774 - in Virginia (1850 census).  In 1880 census one of his sons shows that he was born in Ireland.   He is first documented in Greene County, TN in 1795 where he married Jane (Jenny) Weir (Wear). His second born son married Nancy Culton.  Her ancestors purchased land in Borden's Grant (aka Scotch-Irish Settlement) around 1740.  Robert and Joseph Culton immigrated from Ireland.  The Wilson ancestors in TN were members of the Presbyterian Church - favored by Protestant Irish. Other paternal lines were Williams and Feaster.  My Wilson ancestor left TN and migrated to SW Missouri in 1852.  Here all three lines came together in marriage.  My grandparents and all their children and their parents all had blue eyes. Blue eyes is typically associated with Irish ancestry. Assuming my line did leave for America ca early 1700’s/1800’s, how or where would they have most likely entered? After arriving, if first probably found in NC/SC area, what route would they have used to arrive in Walker County GA? My first known Wilson was my gg gfather, William Wilson & wife, Sarah, maiden unknown. Found on 1850 West Armunchee, Walker Co, GA census along with 9 children. There are also Wilsons living in EAST Armunchee, Walker Co, GA. Can anyone fill me in on the 1850’s (town ?) of Armunchee? Would the Wilsons living in both areas have lived close to each other? Sometime after 1850, my line moved to DeKalb. Co AL, as the 1860 census shows. A daughter, Sarah E Wilson Cosby, was later found in Chattooga Co GA and Minerva Jane Wilson Windrix/Wenrich was in Jackson County AL in 1870. Also in her home was her father, William. He is not shown anywhere in 1880. A 10 year old female, Josephine Chambers/Chalmers? is also in Minerva’s Home in 1870. My great gfather, Abram/Abraham, was in Morgan Co, AL in the home of Mary Woodall, for the 1870 census. Have determined that Mary was Abe’s sister. Believe that Mary Wilson Woodall was the wife of Andrew Woodall, also from GA. Anyone on the list have SC or NC Wilsons living in this general vicinity in the 1800’s? If so, any data on how they arrived in GA? 3. Larry, thanks for the reply. As far as I know, my Wilson ancestors stayed in the NC-SC-GA and AL areas, except for my gfather who moved on to east and central Texas in the early 1900’s. I have only traced my line back to 1801 unknown county of SC, so anything before that is still unknown to me. Thanks. 3. Thomas: My grandmother's Wilson line came from Ireland to Canada in the same time frame, and had property in Ontario, in Stanley's Corners, not far from Ottawa. They are buried at the Methodist Church in Stanley's Corner. On one headstone, it indicates that they came from County Caavan, Ireland. Scott On Tue, Jan 15, 2019 at 9:58 AM Thomas L.
