Looking for information on a Benjamin Wilson shown on the 1850 Walker Co GA census with William Wilson family. On this census he is shown as Benjamin W E Wilson, born ca 1829 SC. In 1860, William Wilson’s family, minus Benjamin, was in DeKalb Co AL and all shown as born in SC. Finding nothing on this Benjamin W E, I tried searching for just Benjamin W Wilson born ca 1829 and found one in Civil War records. This Benjamin W Wilson enlisted at Louisburg, NC in 1861. His enlistment paper states he was born in 1829 in Franklin, NC and was stationed in Petersburg, GA. He was discharged in 1862 on medical disability....”a nervous affection of the heart.” He was described as being 5’ 11” with dark hair and dark eyes. Since my William Wilson family was born in SC but may have NC history, I’m wondering if there could be some kind of connection. Looking for anyone who can provide any information on either Benjamin W E Wilson or Benjamin W Wilson. Sent from my iPad PAULA DUNKLIN
Have you considered the Ancestry DNA test route? I have done both Family Tree DNA and Ancestry DNA. Family Tree theoretically connects ancestors with the same surname. I have been a member for more than 20 years and have not connected with any Wilson's that fit into my family tree. On the other hand, the Ancestry DNA profile has connected me with a number of people who descend from the same Wilson line as I do. I can only go back to 1774 with documentation of my line. Virginia > Tennessee > Missouri > Texas. The line did immigrate from Ireland, but I do not have a specific name that I can search.
