Paula: I looked at the David Wenrick entry in 1870 Jackson Co., Alabama, on my Ancestry.com. I think it is clearly "Chambers". To be misinterpreted for Chalmers, the "l" would have to be before the "m." (Maybe I'm stating what you've already concluded.) So then I put in "Chambers" for Jackson Co. Got several entries, all in Scottsboro, like "Josphine Chambers" is. Tried Chalmers, but found none (at lest on the first 3 pages of entries). Maybe she was being fostered in the Wenrick family, from one of those other Chambers entries in Scottsboro. Or, perhaps she is a niece to David Wenrick? Interesting quandary! William J.
