Check on the THE OREGON TERRITORY AND ITS PIONEERS website: http://www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm I found information on my ancestor's journey there. My Wilson's left Plattsburg, Mo for Oregon. Amariah Wilson and 3rd wife Rachel Brown had daughter Susan in April, and probably left MO in May of 1844 for Oregon City, OR, now called Portland. They lived on Sauvie's Island and it is believed they had a land grant. Like your quest, one of his daughters married in Andrew Co., MO and was left behind with her new husband. I don't recognize any of the names you cite, and it looks like the left MO about 6 years later. Good luck On 9/13/2011 12:01 AM, wilson-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1. The 1850 census lists his place of birth. Where was he born? Scan through the pages before and after the listing for George. Are there other Wilson families that live in the same area? A little clue!!! Oregon City is still close to Portland and is the county seat in Clackamas Co. Around 9 mile to the city limits from Portland. Sauvie island is west of Portland about 30 minutes just off Hwy30..It is a nice flat island on the Columbia River. If you like nude beaches it has that also and fishing besides the many farms and pumkin patches. i'm not sure if the island is in Multnomah co. or not. > Date: Tue, 13 Sep 2011 16:18:48 -0700 > From: jerry_mead@q.com > To: wilson@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [WILSON] WILSON Digest, Vol 6, Issue 105 > > Check on the THE OREGON TERRITORY AND ITS PIONEERS website: > http://www.oregonpioneers.com/ortrail.htm > I found information on my ancestor's journey there.
