I would love to help you, but my info on the Wilson line is very limited prior to 1790. I have a James Wilson who married a Lucretia Griffith, ca 1760. I believe this union to have taken place in Rowan Co., NC. Lucretia Griffith's father was Mathusalem Griffith who was in Auguata Co., VA where he died & his will was recorded 11 Sep 1749. His widow married James Burke, & James moved the family from VA to Rowan Co., NC. James Burke dies 1782, in Surry Co., NC., & in his will refers to his step daughter, Lucretia Griffith Wilson. There is a Griffith family Bible, & in the Bible, it lists the children of James Wilson, & Lucretia Griffith. My ancestor was Jesse Wilson son of James, & Jesse was b. 1776. My James Wilson appears in the 1790 Burke Co., NC., census. I know this James Wilson to be mine, because next door to him are two of his daughters who married Jehu Lawler, & Joel Handcock. The next appearance of the family is in Anderson Co.,TN., 1802 tax list. My problem has been who did my Jesse marry. I know only that her first name was Elizabeth. I believe that my Jesse married into a family which was political, & had money. Jesse was a Daniel Boone type, who moved from Anderson Co., TN to Rutherford Co., TN., Madison Co., AL., Shelby Co., AL., & died quite young in Dallas Co., AL. Jesse had a son named William A. Wilson. Jesse also had a brother Benjamin. All of Benjamin's children are named for people who marrried into the Wilson family, i.e. James Baker Wilson, Joel Hand cock Wilson, etc. My William A. Wilson named a set of twins, Adolphus Taylor Wilson & Lucien Marcus Wilson. There were Taylors in AL., where my Wilson lived, so I was back tracking thru TN to see if I could find a Taylor/Wilson union, when I found the reference in the Book about the Taylors of Hawkins Co., TN. I do not know if my James Wilson & Lucretia Griffith knew each other before NC., but the John Wilson mentioned in the book was in the area of Virginia that the Griffith's were & in the proper timeframe. I am hoping for a link to the Wilsons of VA., so I came find a home for my James. Thanks for the msg. Ann Corum
