The VanZant (VanSant) name appears in my family. My ancestoral line runs back to a connection to the Ruark/Hester family of Putnam Co Indiana. There is a VanZant family who helped start the North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis IN (Originally Mapleton IN in Marion Co) in 1836. My dad says there were some VanZants in Pennsylvania. Some of the VanZants (three brothers) left Indianapolis to go back to Pennsylvania from Indiana to claim a 100 year lease on some property that was due to run out. Two of the brothers returned to IN the other one settled in PA. I've not done much research in this area, but hope to soon. Does any of this info sound familiar? Get in touch with me personally at jrbristow@att.net if you want the name of some researchers who were working on the Ruark family and are now going another direction. They may be doing research on the VanZant side of the family.
