I've "rescued" an old photograph of H. O. FARNUM which was taken at the Jones Studio in Providence, Rhode Island. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with the young man in the photograph likely in his 20's at the time it was taken. The photograph was recovered with others from the Class of 1878 at Brown University including both students and faculty. In reviewing Brown University records I did find Henry Ormsbee FARNHAM listed as a member of the Class of 1878 so I'm assuming that this is a photograph of Henry. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Henry or Harry and his family: Harry Ormsbee FARNUM was b. 2 Jan 1857 in Providence, RI to parents Alexander FARNUM and Charlotte Barbara ORMSBEE. Harry died 30 May 1905 in Providence, RI at the age of 48, with death records listing his wife as Ellen WILSON. Census records provide the following information: 1860 census of Providence, RI: Alexander FARNUM, age 29, a Merchant, born MA Charlotte FARNUM, age 27, born RI Harriet FARNUM, age 3, born RI (I believe incorrectly listed as a female) Frank FARNUM, age 1, born RI + 3 Servants 1870 census of Providence, RI: Alexander FARNUM, age 39, a File Manufacturer, born MA B.
