    1. [WILSON] SCOTLAND, CANADA & THE USA

    3. I have a question; perhaps someone can help me. There is a possibility that our very early Wilson/Willson ancestors came to the USA from Scotland. What path did the early Scottish Wilsons take after leaving Scotland and coming to the states? Would it have most likely been thru Canada? If they headed straight to the U.S., in what port would they have docked?   I've never considered looking at Canada for clues, I just assumed they landed on our shores straight from Scotland. Now I'm wondering if I should perhaps start looking at Canadian records. According to census records, my William Wilson was born in SC ca 1801.  I have no other information on him; no parents or siblings. Wondering if his earlier ancestors might have come down from Canada after leaving Scotland. Any information on the settlement patterns of Wilsons from Canada that scattered thru out the U.S.? Or if they came directly to the U.S., what was their early settlement pattern? Would love to find my Wilson line before they settled in SC but have no clue where to start.   Paula
