Our Haplogroup is R1b1a2a1a1b4f. Our earliest known ancestor is Benjamin Wilson, b. ~1770 somewhere in VA. Most of the matches have been with surnames Ireland and Downing. We've also concluded that the connection between the people is somewhere back in Northern Ireland. Benjamin's sons were named James, Benjamin and John, all very common first names, but you have a James Wilson. We felt that the most likely location in VA that Benjamin Wilson was from was Brunswick Co., VA. He was apparently married to Elizabeth, and died before 1831 in Wilson Co., TN. Some family stayed in the Wilson Co., TN area. Others moved on to Obion/Gibson/Dyer Co., TN, and from there to SE Missouri and to Texas. We've ruled out the Col. Benjamin Wilson with 30 children, the Benjamin Wilson in the Norfolk area, and the Benjamin Wilson in Isle of Wight Co. Can you tell us more about your Wilsons?
