I've "rescued" an old photograph of Max MOORE which was taken at the C. Fritz Studio in Forest Grove, OR sometime in the 1890's. Max appears to be about 1 year old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Max and his family: Max Vern Wilson MOORE was b. 28 Nov 1892 in Greenville, OR to parents Jesse Clemens MOORE (1830-1905) and Minerva Jane "Jennie" WILSON. Max was one of 3 children born to this couple including a brother Jesse Clemens MOORE II born in 1883 and a sister Mary V. MOORE born the same year he was (would have to be a twin or born early in 1892). His father was married previously and had 8 other children with his first wife including, Edward B.; Mary Ellen; William Lincoln; Lizzie J. ; Thomas C.; Anna M.; Hattie M.; Frederick Charles "Fred" MOORE all born between 1863 and 1878. Max married Irene Anna MORROW (b. 28 Mar 1892 in Lewis Co. WA - d. 15 Mar 1973 in Portland, OR) on 1 Jun 1916 in Multnomah Co., OR. It appears that they divorced sometime prior to 1941 when Irene remarried. The couple had two children, Cleo Madeline MOORE (1917-1988) and Jean Laverne MOORE (1918-1990). Max died 14 Oct 1956 in Sacramento, CA. Census records contain the following details: 1900 census of Dairy, OR: Jesse C. MOORE, age 69, born Sept 1830, born AR, parents born KY, a Merchant Minerva MOORE, wife, age 44, born 1856, born OR, parents born AR/AL Anna M. MOORE, son, age 7, born 1893, born OR, at School 1910 census of Portland, OR: Jennie MOORE, age 54, a widow, 2 children/2 living, born OR, parents born AR/IN Max W. MOORE, son, age 17, born OR, parents born AR/OR Anna MOORE, step-dau, age 34, born OR, parents born AR/MO + 2 lodgers 1920 census of Portland, OR: Max W. MOORE, age 27, born OR, parents born AR/OR, a Flour Mill Packer Anna MOORE, wife, age 26, born WA, parents born KY/IN Cleo Madeline MOORE, dau, age 2 years + 10 months, born OR Jane Laverne MOORE, dau, age 1 yea + 6 months, born OR 1940 census of San Francisco, CA: - living in a hotel on Kearney Street Max MOORE, age 47, born OR, a Warehouseman I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this MOORE Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

I've always found that locating the male members of a family to be easier, but not this time! I have been unable to find ANYTHING on these men. Probably due to the Civil War. Could Jerry M be a nickname? Is Jerry often a nickname for James or maybe Jerome? There is already an older brother named James so I doubt William Wilson named 2 sons James and called one Jerry. Trying to find any or all of these Wilsons but might as well be looking for a needle in a haystack. Thoughts anyone? Having a great deal of difficulty finding info on the above Jerry M Wilson after 1860. His name is shown as Jerry M Wilson, born ca 1845 GA to William Wilson and Sarah. Sarah was probably a 2nd wife. They were in West Amunchee, Walker Co GA for the 1850 census. Children of William and Sarah Wilson on that census were: Benjamin W E ca 1829 SCMary M ca 1837 SCAbbby L (Abigail?) ca 1838 SCMartha A ca 1839 SCJames ca 1841 SCSuzy C (Susan?) ca 1843 GAJerry M ca 1845 GAMinerva J ca 1847 GASarah E. ca 1849 GA They were in Lebanon, DeKalb Co AL for the 1860 census. Sarah is apparently dead by this time and several of the children from 1850 have departed for parts unknown. Jerry is still at home with his father and sisters, Martha A; Susan C; Minerva Jane; Sarah Elizabeth and brother Abraham. So far, I have been able to find some info on Mary M; Minerva Jane and Sarah Elizabeth but nothing on the others. William Wilson family first found 1850 Walker Co GA. Between 1850-1860 are in DEKALB Co AL. Minerva Wilson marries David W Windrix/WenrickWendrix and is in neighboring Jackson Co AL by 1870. After David's death, Minerva and two children are living in William Clemmons home. 1880 census shows Minerva as Minerva Clemmons and David's children are shown as Clemmons and not as Windrix/Wenrick. Hoping for contact with anyone with more on these people. Paula
Hi Bobbie. Unfortunately we are not Wilson direct. I just had my brother DNA tested but our line is broken by women. We did the 37 marker test. Other than that........ I know nothing about DNA testing really. What location did your Wilson line come from in the US? -----Original Message----- From: wilson-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:wilson-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Roberta Hall via Sent: Saturday, March 21, 2015 10:13 AM To: 'Janean Ray'; wilson@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [WILSON] [Bulk] Re: Roberta - Wilsons in Kentucky & Illinois Hi Janean, Yes we have been in contact in the past....our paths keep crossing which makes one wonder if somewhere there is a connection....just wish I knew how to make to leap... Not sure if that is our family. But, there re a lot of James Wilsons in my husband's family Charles H Wilson, F86570 We're stuck at Benjamin, b. ~1770 in VA, d 1831 in Wilson Co., TN. Most likely possibility for his father right now is John wilson who d 1809 in Brunswick Co., VA. What's your GEDCOM ID? Are there known descendants of tJames Wilson & Margaret Kidd (Kydd) on FTDNA who have tested y-DNA? Linda, My husband's 7th g-grandfather was also James Cunningham( parents George Wilsone & Alisoun Cunninghame Wilson), descending from his son Joseph ( 1665-1715, spouse Frances Hilleary) I would very much like to share information with you. I am especially looking for a documented marriage record between James C. & Margaret Kidd, and her parents names & dates, as so many researchers have her married to James C Wilsone's son James ( 1660-1716) and her birth date as 1645. Margaret Kidd ( kydd) is listed the majority of the time as James C.Wilsone's wife born 1828, Soharm, Cambridgeshire England, but I have seen nothing that actually documents that information. Hi Clara, I haven't come across any connection to a James Wilson ( 1779-1800) from Ireland to my husband's line. James Wilsone, ( Scotland) settled in Calvert Co. Maryland and the family ( direct line) was there for 3 generations, then to Monongalia Co. Virginia, ( early 1800th), then Tippecanoe Co. & Hamilton Co. Indiana ( 1830-1850) Mahaska Co Iowa 1856 -?( sometime before their 1870 move to Oregon, Jackson Co, then Polk and finally Marion Co. The last direct Wilson ( my husbands grandmother died in Salem, Marion Co. in 1958.) This is only the direct line... I'll check to see if any siblings settled in North Carolina or Tennessee, and if so will get back to you. There are so many James Wilsons, but I would love to hear if you have traced yours to the U.S. I look forward to your response. Let's keep in touch. Take care & God Bless! Maryland. He married( supposedly) abt. 1660 Margaret Kidd..unfortunately there is a Margaret Kidd born 1628 & one born 1645, both listed in various places as his wife. The Margaret (1628) parents are listed as William Kidd born 1622 ( not possible as he would be 6 years old) and Margaret Deare. They are also listed as the parents of Margaret ( 1645) which is possible. To add more flies to the ointment, Margaret P. Gott is also listed as James wife. Does any one have any documented proof as to who is the correct wife? I've tried each backward and forward and still can't make any sense of it. Any information greatly appreciated. Linda. I have done FtDNA, but have not found a connection to my David Wilson (4G) born January 1774, probably in Virginia. VA is shown as place of birth in 1850 census when he was still living. In the 1880 census, three of his children reported their father was born in: Ireland, North Carolina, Tennessee. ??? Larry Wilson PS. In the nearest matches (67) there is only one other person with the Wilson surname. I recently did Ancestry DNA. I have connected with a number of distant relatives, but no Wilson's so far. Clara and Joanne, Did any of your Wilson's make their way to Scott county Illinois.... I have traced my line back to 1836 but as you said there are so many Wilson lines that I can't connect my EKA born 1793 to a location...I have his son born possibly in Kentucky abt. 1819. Nothing earlier. Pretty well documented from 1836 to present. I have one Wilson cousin left from my grandmother's paternal line who can take the test be is still in the thinking phase (been 2 years). Would love to know where my ancestry lies.
