    1. [WILSON] Surnames Connected To Wilson Family
    2. Tom Dunklin via
    3. While searching around on the net, I came across a few South Carolina Wilson marriages and found a couple of names that possibly may connect to my Wilson family. Seems these marriages came out in SC and NC publications. Found them on "Early South Carolina Marriage Records 1641-1799." Anyone have a connection to the following: Jesu Wilson to Lionel Chalmers November 1784 John Wilson to Sarah Chalmers November 1784 John Wilson to Mary Rake Sept 1774 All help greatly appreciated, Sent from my iPad PAULA DUNKLIN

    2. JMW via
    3. Paula, I'm from rural Virginia where many of the families migrated west as former Indian land opened up. DNA has shown that many of my blood relatives are out west even though my part of the family stayed close to their colonial roots. One of the families that at one point lived one farm over from the main Wilson home place were Clements. An example of one that has a very unique and searchable name is https://www.geni.com/people/Parham-Clements/6000000001688227062 The Bennett family they married into is very large. A branch of that family helped found the Dallas Texas area. Bennetts used to travel back and forth between the west and Virginia until the Great Depression. The families in Virginia tended to move as groups. Often as Baptist groups. If that lead doesn't work you may try searching back to the Clemmons, North Carolina area. That area is a modern day suburb of Winston-Salem, NC. Most people from there are Moravians or Baptists. It is close to Mocksville where Daniel Boone's parents lived. A good source of recent historical research for the migration west is http://www.danielboonefootsteps.com A good source of the early Indian/Colonial trails used is http://tradingpath.org Good Luck! Believe his middle name was Henry but not sure. He seems to have married my great aunt, Manerva/Minerva Jane Wilson, sometime between 1873 and 1880. Believe her to be his 2nd wife. They were on the 1880 Jackson Co AL census along with 2 children from Minerva's first marriage to David Windrix/Wenrich in 1869. These children are mistakenly enumerated as Dollie and William Clemens but are actually the children of Minerva (nicknamed Mattie) and David Windrix. This family can be found in Scottsboro on the 1870 census. Minerva/Mattie died before 1899. The confusion regarding William Clemmons/Clemens 2nd and 3rd wives is understandable as he married his 3rd wife in 1899 and her name was Mattie Jane. They appear on the 1900 Scottsboro, Jackson Co AL census. However, her full name was Mattie Jane BROWN! This Mattie Jane Brown Clemens died in 1936 and is buried in Tulsa OK. William died in 1939 and is also buried in Tulsa OK. William and Mattie Jane Brown Clemens were in OK after 1900 according to census records. The reason for this query is to learn what information direct descendants of William Clemens might have regarding the Abraham Wilson that is shown living with William and Mattie J BROWN Clemens in 1900 Scottsboro, Jackson Co AL. I believe he is Minerva Jane Wilson Clemens brother and my great gfather. If it is her brother, it seems strange that he would show up at the home of his ex brother-in-law after her death. Abraham Wilson was born ca 1852-3 and disappeared in 1874 leaving his family to wonder where he went. An old family story said he was killed by an unknown person and his body buried in unknown location. Personally, I don't think this is true. I believe that at least by 1900, we have found him in William Clemen's home. Hopefully one of William's line can provide some clues as to who this Abraham Wilson really was. 3. I find a little about James Felix Wilson and a couple of generations. If Dinah Nicholson had a son James who had a son Solomon and when did they remove to Caroline co Md. I find nothing to show this movement. A number of people have shown a relation ship. I find no documentation to this effect. I am trying to connect Solomon who married Hannah Bell to Solomon who married Elizabeth Craynor as decendents of James Feilx Wilson. To much of what I see is people copying other who did not document.

    3. I agree 100% with that statement! When I first started looking for my Wilson family, I thought info on Internet trees meant it was an accurate source of data. Didn't take me long to realize that SO many people would just copy from other's trees, over and over again, and post to their tree....mistakes and all. Now I use other's data as a place to start and I research obsessively for documentation of research I think might fit my family. I've even had some who refused to change data that was about my family and that I had documented! Sure wish someone had some data on my Wilson family: William, (no known middle initial,) Wilson was born somewhere in SC around 1800. He's first found in West Amunchee , Walker Co GA for the 1850 census, but looking at the births of his last 5 children, be was in GA ca 1842-43. The first 5 of his children were born somewhere in SC. He may have been married twice as his first child, Benjamin W E Wilson, was born ca 1829 and his next child was born ca 1836. His wife listed in the 1850 GA census was named Sarah; if he had another wife, her name is unknown. William and some of his children were in DEKALB Co AL for the 1860 census. Think William died after 1870. He was living in daughter, Minerva/Manerva Wilson Windrix's home in Jackson Co AL for the 1870 census. Can't find him after that. CHILDREN: Benjamin W E Wilson, born ca 1829 SC Mary M Wilson, born ca 1836 SC Abby L Wilson. born ca 1838 SC Martha A Wilson. born ca 1839 SC James Wilson. born ca 1841 SC Suzy C Wilson. born ca 1843 Georgia Jerry M Wilson born a 1845 GA Minerva J Wilson born ca 1847 GA Sarah E Wilson born ca 1849 GA Abraham Wilson born ca 1852 GA Surnames associated with my Wilsons thru marriage would be: WOODALL; WINDRIX/WENDRICK/ WENRICH; COSBY/CROSBY; NESMITH All help appreciated, Paula known Sent from my iPad PAULA DUNKLIN > On May 15, 2016, at 5:17 PM, Cole McCann via <wilson@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > I find a little about James Felix Wilson and a couple of generations. 3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Charles L. "Duck" WILSON which was taken at the Richardson Studio (somewhere in Maine) sometime in the early 1900's. Charles appears to be in his teens or early 20's at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to his name it is also noted that he is from the Hebron Academy Class of 1907. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Charles and his family: Charles L. WILSON was b. Nov 1887 in Hiram, ME to parents Charles E. WILSON (b. 1853 in Limerick, ME-1913) and F. Ella CHADBOURN (b. 1852 in Oxford, ME-1924). Charles died 10 Jan 1913 in Hiram, ME and is buried in the Hiram Village Cemetery in Hiram, ME. Census records provide the following details: 1910 census of Hiram, ME: Charles E. WILSON, age 56, married 24 years, born ME, parents born ME, a Physician Florence E. WILSON, wife, age 57, married 24 years, 1 child/1 living, born ME, parents born ME Charles L. WILSON, son, age 23, born ME, a House Painter I am hoping to locate someone from his family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of family. 1. [WILSON] BOTSFORD - WILSON Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel via
    3. I've "rescued" three old photographs belonging to the BOTSFORD Family of South Dakota. The first is one of Raymond BOTSFORD'S parents (Warren and Louisa BOTSFORD) which was taken at the C. S. McKibben Studio in Desmet, SD. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the couple likely in their 50's or 60's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is one of Ray BOTSFORD which was also taken most likely in the early 1900's with Ray in his teens or 20's at the time. The third photograph is one of Ray BOTSFORD and his brothers (Arthur and Alfred), also taken in the early 1900's, all three appear to be in their teens or 20's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this family: Warren William BOTSFORD was b. Aug 1854 in Iroquois Co, IL to parents V. W. BOTSFORD (b. 1830) and Martha BOTSFORD (b. 1832). Warren had one sibling, George Edgar BOTSFORD (1858-1930 or 1933). Warren married Louisa A. or M. STALTER or STOLDER or STALDER (1854 or 1856-1939) in 1879 and together they had at least 10 children including, Alfaretta or Alpharetta "Allie" BOTSFORD; Martha Maria BOTSFORD; Arthur Clarence BOTSFORD (b. 1884); Clarence BOTSFORD (1885-1900); Cora Ann BOTSFORD; Raymond Walter BOTSFORD; Alfred Warren BOTSFORD; Russell E. BOTSFORD (1886-1887); Goldie L. BOTSFORD (1889-1902); and Pearl Mae or May BOTSFORD (1894-1983). Warren died 6 Mar 1924 in Kingsbury, SD and is buried in the Graham Cemetery in Mingo, IA along with his wife Louisa. Arthur Clarence BOTSFORD was b. 15 Sept 1884 in Prairie City, IA and married Ella AKINS (1890-1984) on 25 Oct 1910 and he died 18 Oct 1961 in Knoxville or Monroe, IA at the age of 77 and is buried in the Monroe Cemetery in Monroe, IA. At the time of his death he was survived by his brother Alfred BOTSFORD and three sisters including, Martha BOTSFORD VIERS; Cora BOTSFORD CURRIER; and Pearl BOTSFORD WILSON all of Monroe, IA. His obit indicates that his parents, brother Ray BOTSFORD, and sister Allie BOTSFORD EDWARDS preceded him in death. Arthur was a truck driver and lived for many years in South Dakota before returning to Jasper County, IA. 3. Marian: Some 20 or so years ago I knew a male librarian, whose name was Kay Salmon, who worked for the Oregon State Library (I believe it was). Now, a step further. My great grandfather WAS James Thomas Wilson. He died in 7 Feb. 1905, and is buried in Imnaha, Wallowa County, OR. (Probably not the one you're looking for.) Are you tied to the James Wilson who bought land from the GLO in Hancock Co., IN, on 8-01-1839, NESE of S. 29, T17N, R7E (about 2 miles SE of Eden, Hancock Co., IN, as part of the Wilson grouping of landowners there)? My 2G grandfather, John Wilson, was born in Swit. Co., IN, in 1813, married Mahala Scott there, in 2 April 1835, moved to Holt Co., MO, about 1842, had my great grandfather, James Thomas Wilson, about 1 year before moving on to Oregon in 1851. My 3G grandfather, William Wilson (unproved) lived about 20 years in Hancock Co., IN, before moving to Jasper Co., IL, about 1845 and died there in 1847. My 4G grandfather (unproven), Robert Wilson, Rev. War soldier, pension #32603, born in Augusta co., VA, in 1845, and "...died in his 105th year." Probably in Bond Co., IL. His first son's name was William Alexander. Family lore has him as a trader at Arkansas Post. Thank you, Kathryn Benson
