I just today received a death certificate for my great great grandfather Alexander H. Wilson and finally found out a tad bit of information on him He was born Alexander Huston Wilson on April 11, 1843 in Mt. Vernonm Jefferson County, IL. the son of Michal Wilson and Mary Stansbury (the best I can read) they were both born in Tennessee. He married Mary E. Geri, I was just wandering. We have an old family story about a Dr. Wilson who found two orphans, a boy and a girl. Their parents had been killed by Indians and he took them to raise. This would have been in TN before 1800. Thanks for your reply. George

Wilson 60, a former Jefferson Co. resident was found shot through the head at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the rear of a home where he was a border on RFD 3, Creal Springs, ILL. He had apparently committed suicide, according to Sheriff Lawrence Cannon and Deputy Virgil Yewell. Mr. Wilson had been ill since last August and had only recently returned from the Soldier's Home at Quincy. He was a veteran of WWI. George, My ancestor, was Johnathan Wilson, he was born in Illinois as was his wife, Eliza. His daughter, Amanda Jane Wilson (my great grandmother) was born in Grittin, Posey Co., IN close to IL line. Allen Wilson was b. 1/15/1820 in Cabell (which became Wayne )Co. WV and he married Virginia Jane Rutherford, 12/5/1839. Wayne Co., WV is seperated from Kentucky by the Big Sandy River. Many of James and Sarah's children lived in KY....my line, their son Charles relocated to Ky and all of his children lived there. Hope this helps with your search. Dee

I am researching a Wilson family from around Knox County, Indiana. The only info I have is from a death certificate and we know reliable they can be! Quiller Wilson, whom I believe to actually be Aquilla Wilson, and Nancy Skinner, whom I believe to be a Nancy Daffron, are listed as the parents of my Great Grandmother Mary Jane Wilson Fox. Mary Jane was born on November 12, 1845 near Monroe City, Indiana. I have never been able to locate them on any census and only suspect that the names I list are the correct ones due to the fact that a marriage record was located for these 2 names, not the ones on the death certificate. My Wilson family seemed to always be with the Sampsons, Skinners, and Daffron families in and around Indiana. This same death certificate listed "Quiller and Nancy" to have been from Louisville, Kentucky - go figure! Thanks! marg
