    1. [WILSON-L] African American WILSON Families, PANOLA CO MISSISSIPPI 1850-1900
    2. Hello List, Researching for African Americans with the surname WILSON who came from South Carolina to Mississippi or were born in Mississippi during the time period of 1850-1900. I am trying to find ancestors, descendants and migration pathes of these Wilson Families. I know John and Maria(h), found on the 1870 census, are one such family. Other names that I have an interested on the 1870 census is: Zachariah (Zacheriah) Amanda Malinda (Malindy) Hezekiah Lucretia Benjamin Eliza (Elizabeth?) Glasgow/Rachel Issac/Maggie George/Laura All of these may be related, or not. I sure would like to piece the John Wilson Family together. Any information on any one or all will be grately appreciated. Please contact me at jasa7007@netscape.net Thank you. 1. [WILSON-L] Sarah Wilson Brooks
    2. Sarah Wilson married a Gov Brooks in about 1680. According to a note I have, written by a relative 40 years ago, "The wedding too place sometime in Sixteen Hundred..about 1680. Sarah Wilson of Episcopal parents ran away to America to marry Gov [don't know if this is an abbreviation for a given name, a title, or is just a result of poor handwriting] Brooks. The wedding took place in a log church in Massachusetts. Its record was made on the walls of the building by being cut in the wall." Does anyone know anything about a WILSON who married a BROOKS in about 1680? This Brooks line would have married a Phelps in about 1810. Would appreciate any leads. Carol

    1. [WILSON-L] ABRAHAM WILSON Born 1786 in PA
    2. Paul and Patricia Homlish
    3. Hi: Abraham had five sons William, George, Abraham, John & James. None of them would of been married by 1825. Since I do not know who Abraham's parents are or how many siblings he had, I cannot even tell you if Abraham would of had a brother named Jacob. Keeping all the Wilson info so if I ever piece it all together, it might make sense. I have a feeling that Abraham's father was either William or Joseph, but have not been able to firmly establish which one. Regards, Patricia

    1. [WILSON-L] ABRAHAM WILSON Born 1786 in PA
    2. Paul and Patricia Homlish
    3. Abraham Wilson 's son William L. married Julia Remaly, George married Matilda, Abraham' & John's wives are unknown and James W. married Kathryn Daniels. Since I have accounted for William L. born 1817, George born 1823, the others would not be old enough to have married by 1834. There is a possibility that maybe, just maybe your Wilson could of been a brother to my Abraham. Just a thought, if I could only find his parents, it would answer a lot of questions I have. I will keep your note and if I find any connections, I will get in touch with you. Thanks for taking time to inquire. Regards, Patricia

    1. [WILSON-L] WILSON/OVERSTREET/MITCHELL of KY, IN, IA
    2. Scott Swanson
    3. Robert Wilson married 1 October 1807 Jefferson County KY: Mary (Overstreet) Mitchell, daughter of James and Anne (-----) Overstreet and widow of Daniel Mitchell. Daniel and Mary (Overstreet) Mitchell had at least five children. In 1818 Robert and Mary Wilson were living in Jefferson County KY. Mary's Mitchell children moved first to Indiana and then by 1849 to Wapello County IA. It was said that Mary moved with them, but I have not yet found her in the census. I'd be grateful if anyone can identify Robert and Mary Wilson amongst the many census entries for Robert Wilson in Kentucky or Indiana, and if anyone can tell me whether Robert and Mary had any children. Many thanks for your help, and best wishes to you. Scott Swanson Department of History Butler University 4600 Sunset Avenue Indianapolis, Indiana 46208-3485 sswanson@butler.edu

    1. [WILSON-L] ABRAHAM/ABRAM WILSON, born ca.1850 GA-HE HAD TO HAVE PARENTS SOMEWHERE
    2. Abraham/Abram Wilson/Willson, parents and siblings unknown Born unknown county of GA ca early 1850's Need parent's name to search in GA for county of his birth He's first found in Morgan Co, AL 1870 census; age 18, born GA Married Sarah Jane Nesmith Oct 1870 in Lawrence Co, AL Sister might possibly be a Sarah E.? Crosby, found on 1870 Morgan Co, AL census living next door to Abe. Also shows her with infant son, 9 months; no husband shown in household but he could be James Crosby. Abe disappears in Spring of 1874, just before the birth of his only child, my grandfather, William Martin Wilson. Family story is that he went off to work and never came home. Family believed he was killed/murdered for his pay. His body was never found. Beginning to think he just took off to make a new life somewhere else. Abe's son, William Martin left AL as a young man and came to TX; settled in central TX area of Navarro, Hill, & Freestone Counties at various times. Was in Jefferson Co, Oklahoma for a few years between ca 1909-1914 and then back to central TX. No known connection to Oklahoma so that move is a mystery. Other areas possibly connected to Abe's parents/siblings and ancestors: VA, NC, SC, TN. Heeeeeeeelp!! Paula
