Seeking information regarding John WILSON and his wife, Narcissa. They were in Laclede County in 1850 census and in Wright County in 1880 census. John is listed as being born in TN. When in Laclede County, the family lived very near my GGgrandparents, Elizabeth and Allen Green WILSON. I suspect that John and Allen were brothers. John and Narcissa had at least three children: Eli, Emily and Hessa. Any information greatly apreciated.
I have a major mystery! Looking to find information on Roxana WILSON who was the wife of Samuel WILSON. The "Wilsons From New England" genealogy by Ken Stevens states that Samuel WILSON b. 17 Feb 1754 at Windsor, CT died a pauper at Wintonbury, CT 9 Nov 1832 ae. 76 years. He married Rosanna (Roxy) CLARK. The book states that Rosanna CLARK was the d/o David and Rachel ___ CLARK. Wintonbury Church Records lists Roxana WILSON as died Sept 26, 1827 aged 63. Stiles in the "History of Ancient Windsor" states that Samuel WILSOM m. wid. Roxy COOK. I believe this is the widow of Joel COOK b. 1763; d. 1801 in CT, who is mentioned in his will as widow Roxana COOK. So, this may be Roxana (CLARK) (COOK) WILSON. Does anyone have anything on her and these families? Roger

Dear Karol, It is possible to extract DNA from personal items such as a toothbrush, sweaty ball cap, blood stains on clothing, teeth, etc. It can also be extracted from hair from combs, brushes, or shavers. There are numerous labs which do this sort of DNA extraction e.g. PaleoDNA Lab in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and various forensic labs in the USA. It's not cheap ( around three hundred dollars to extract the DNA and one hundred to three hundred dollars more to test mtDNA, Y chromosome or racial percentages). Also, there is no guarantee that the extraction will be successful. Perhaps you can find a suitable item of your father's to test. Best regards, Nicole May njmay@aol.com

Looking for information regarding the following family found on 1880 District 11, Marion, TN census: William Rogers, age 31, born AL ca. 1849. Father born AL; Mother born AL Martha J., wife age 28, born TN ca 1851. Father born KY or NY? Mother born TN Mary A. Rogers, dau, age 8, b. TN Isaac H. Rogers, son, age 6, b. TN Robert L. Rogers, son, age 2, b. TN LUCINDA PERKINS, mother-in-law; age 60, born TN ca 1820; Father born KY, Mother born SC. I believe this Lucinda Perkins to be the same Lucinda Perkins who, along with her children which included Martha J Perkins, were found living in the home of Frances Woodall and her children, on the 1860 census in the Bellefonte/Stevenson area of Jackson Co, AL. The names and dates fit. Next door to the above William Rogers and wife, Martha J, is: Jackson B. Rogers, age 60, born KY ca 1820; Father b. NC; Mother b. NC Millie Rogers, wife, age 58, born TN ca 1822; Father b. NC; Mother b. TN Margaret Rogers, dau, age 16, born AL Rachel N. Rogers, dau, age 15, born AL John L. Rogers, son, age 12, born TN Could Jackson B. Rogers be the father of William? Can anyone connect a Mildred Rogers, born ca 1811 (in VA?) and died 1884 in Jackson Co, AL, and who married Thomas Wilson in 1857 Jackson Co, AL, to the Rogers families shown above? Found in the home of Thomas and Mildred Wilson is Louis/Lewis Woodall, age 13, born AL. According to a descendant of Lewis Woodall, he was bound over to Thomas Wilson to learn a trade as his father was deceased. The Frances Woodall mention earlier is thought to be his mother. He served in the Civil War and his pension application says his father was Elias Woodall. Trying to connect these Rogers, Perkins and Woodall families to my Wilson line. My earliest known Wilson ancestor is my great grandfather, Abraham/Abram Wilson, born unknown county of GA, ca 1850-51, according to information found on 1870 Morgan Co, AL census. Married Sarah Jane Nesmith of Morgan County, AL in neighboring Lawrence Co, AL Oct 1870. Marriage is on record in Lawrence Co. Abe disappeared in spring of 1874 from Morgan Co, AL and was never heard from again. Weeks after Abe disappeared, my grandfather William Martin Wilson was born. He was Abe's only child. My grandfather William never spoke to his own family about his father so subsequently, our family has no information to help identify Abe's parents or siblings. There MAY be a sister, Sarah, born ca 1849 in GA, but no proof. She married Hugh W. or Hugh H. Crosby and lived next door to Abe on the 1870 Morgan Co, AL census. Sarah, Hugh and family are later found on 1880 Seminole, Chattooga Co, GA census. Their GA data matches pretty closely the AL 1870 census data. Tracking EVERY lead to find information that will help identify Abe's parents and siblings. Family story is that earlier Wilson ancestors were in NC/SC before going to GA. I have no idea if Abe's family moved from GA to AL with him. Any help appreciated, Paula
