Hello all. I have been a silent lurker on this list so this is my first post. It is not a typical genealogical query, but I hope you will understand my need to ask. I also realize it is not proper to inquire about living people, but if any of what I am about to say sounds familiar, please pass my email address on to anyone you think may be 'interested'. Thank you. I am an adoptee who is searching for her birthmother. I have been utilizing a court-appointed search intermediary but she is stuck and we are both frustrated. This is all I know: My birthmother was a Wilson, born in the second half of January 1943, in Louisiana. She gave birth to me 21 May 1964 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She named me Dolores Ellen Wilson, then after relinquishing me moved to Dallas, Texas to be with her family. Due to closed adoption laws my search agent is not allowed to tell me my birthmother's first name, but said that she was unable to obtain my birthmother's birth certificate from Louisiana because there was more than one person of the same name born on the same day in the state. That leads me to believe it must be a fairly common first name. She also hypothesized that my birthgrandfather might have been in the military, as the records show that my birthmother moved quite a lot as a child, living all over the place. I am not looking to invade someone's life, only to have a sense of my own history. I have done my adoptive parents' genealogy for years, but it is not satisfying. I want to know who *I* am, something I think all genealogists can understand. I could turn out to be related to any one of you! Thank you again for letting me ask this. My alternate email address is couponqueen64@yahoo.com just in case this one ever is unreachable. Feel free to forward this letter to anyone you wish. Thanks for pointing out this site. It looks like a real gold mine. For non-AOL users, this link may be more convenient: http://www.rootsweb.com/~chalkley/ For some strange reason my browser (IE6) doesn't display scroll bars for these pages, so there is no way to see the bottom of each page. However, you can see it by clicking on File > Print Preview. I never give up so I'll try again. There must be a Woodall line somewhere who has an Elias Woodall; maybe with a wife named Frances? Very sketchy info that Elias? Woodall had a son named Lewis/Louis Woodall, born ca 1847 in GA, maybe Walker Co, GA. Lewis/Louis' mother is thought to be Frances Woodall, no definite maiden name at this time. Lewis/Louis was bound out ca 1855 to Thomas Wilson and wife, Mildred Rogers? Wilson and was living in their household on the 1860 Bellefonte, Jackson Co, AL census. His father, Elias had died ca 1852. Frances Woodall, age 37, born ca 1823 GA, is also on this 1860 census but living near Stevenson, AL with daughter Paulina J. Woodall, age 11, born ca 1849 AL, and son, John H. Woodall, age 3, born ca 1857 AL. Also living in Frances Woodall's home is a Perkins family: Lucinda Perkins, age 42, born ca 1818 in TN; John Perkins, age 22, born ca 1838 TN; Mary A. Perkins, age 11, born ca 1849 TN; Martha J. Perkins, age 9, born ca 1851 TN; William H. Perkins, age 7, born ca 1853 TN and George H. Perkins, age 4, born ca 1856 TN. I find Lucinda Perkins later on in 1880 Dist 11, Marion, TN census. She is living in household of her son-in-law, William Rogers and daughter, Martha J. Rogers. Wonder if this Rogers family is connected to the Mildred Rogers? Wilson, wife of Thomas Wilson, previously mentioned above? Living next door to William Rogers and Martha J is a Jackson B. Rogers, age 60 and wife, Millie. Could he be related to William Rogers? Really could use some help with this. Paula
