Does anyone have a Sophrina - Sophrenea- Sephrana Wilson born 1855 in Mo. Her parents were James R Wilson b MO and Mary Ann Metcalf b 1836 Grundy County, MO. They were in Vernon County, MO 1860. Last we know of her was 1870 Laclede/Dallas County, MO. They lived on the county line so both counties counted them. She had siblings L Elizabeth, Maledis F, Crusic Anthony 'Tony' and Mary Octavia. Thanks Kay Claxton Wilson
Rick, I doubt there is a connection but if your Wilsons had connections to GA and AL and later to TX, there might be a chance. My great grandfather, Abraham/Abram Wilson, is the first one I can find and I found him on the 1870 Morgan Co, AL census. I have no idea if Abraham/Abram was his first or middle name. According to this census, he was born unknown county of GA ca 1850-51. He is living in the home of a Mary Woodall, born ca 1837 SC. Family lore says that Abe's family was from SC before going to GA. I do not know the names of Abe's parents or siblings and I'm having a very difficult trying to identify them without their names. He may be only one of them to venture on up to AL. Since he named his only child William Wilson, I have to wonder if his father could have been a William, maybe a William Abraham. He may possibly have had a sister named Sarah, born ca 1848-49 unknown county of GA. He married Sarah Jane Nesmith, d/o Robert Martin Nesmith, in neighboring Lawrence Co, AL in Oct of 1870. He disappeared in the Spring of 1874, just weeks before Sarah Jane gave birth to William Martin Wilson. His body was never found an the family supposedly never heard from him again. About 1896, William Martin Wilson left AL and came to TX, settled in Navarro County Tx, married Katie Lee Hardy of Panola Co, TX and started a family. He named one of his sons Walter Abraham. In the ensuing years, this family lived for a short while in Rusk County but stayed mostly in the Central Tx areas of (1) Dawson, Navarro Co TX; (2) near Hubbard, Hill Co TX, (3) Limestone Co and (4) Teague, Freestone County TX. For reason still unknown to my family, they did go to Jefferson Co, OK ca 1906 but came back to TX around 1914. William Martin was a Baptist circuit riding preacher most of his adult life. My ggg grandfather and mother, Freeman and Miranda Wilson, were both born about 1807-1810 in Jefferson Co., NY. However, I have not been able to find the parents of either one. They moved to Wisconsin about the mid-1850's and for a short time lived in Dodge Co., WI. From there the children married and scattered within Wisconsin and all around: to Minnesota, South Dakota, Missouri, Washington state. Where in Wisconsin did your Wilsons locate? Karen Wilson Ramsey

Rae, The only information I have about Agnes Wilson's family comes from her 1908 obituary. She was born in 1822 in Whitehall, Washington County, NY (near Lake Champlain), and moved as a young girl with her family to Canada. At the time of her death, she had five surviving sisters in Canada, suggesting perhaps that she was one of the older children. She married William Helm in Canada in 1845, and they moved first to Michigan and then to Kansas. I know nothing about her parents or the names of her sibings. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Hope to find out more in the future. Sharon

Am looking for any information on the marriage in 1878-79 of MRS. MILLIE ANN WILSON [my GGrandmother] to JAMES ALLEN, possibly in Trinity Co., Texas. Mrs. Millie Ann Wilson was the widow of JOHN D. WILSON, Sr. who was born in Louisiana abt 1831. He died in Trinity Co., Texas, in abt 1877, leaving his wife, Millie Ann, and three children. The JAMES ALLEN family was located on the 1880 Census living in Goshen, Henderson Co., Texas. The three children were listed as John Wilson, age 10 [my Grandfather]; George Wilson, age 7; and Mary Wilson, age 6. The place of birth for James Allen is given as New York in about 1838. Millie Ann was born in Alabama in about 1847, her maiden surname is unknown. If you have any information on Mrs. Millie Ann Wilson, James Allen, and/or any member of this family, please contact me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have located a marriage for a "Mrs. M. A. ALLEN to James DOVENPORT (probably misspelled...for DAVENPORT) - Date: 31 October 1886 Place: Parker Co., Texas. This information fits with some of the family stories I've heard, but I need confirmation from the DAVENPORT relatives that this bride is definitely my Great Grandmother, who was the widow, Mrs. Millie Ann WILSON, who married JAMES ALLEN, who then was the widow, MRS. M. A. ALLEN who married JAMES DAVENPORT in Parker Co., Texas. If you have any information on Mrs. Millie Ann Wilson, James Allen, Mrs. Millie Ann Davenport, James Davenport and/or any member of this family, please contact me Thelmarie Curtis - pdcurtis@ix.netcom.com

FYI: I normally would not send such emails, but since they have such a large full name index shown in the photos on the page with some birthdays/places of births, etc.of all families it might help someone pinpoint a family members whereabouts or even give a middle name! It is not my book, if you have questions you may can email the seller from the page below. Maybe it would be good if the index was placed on a webpage somewhere! The full name index is in the photos, there are many surnames to look through. I have no idea where Plasa, IL. is though. The url is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2922478196 Hope it helps someone, Lisa
Here's another resource that may help in locating data on your family from the years, 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880: U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules Index http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/inddbs/3530a.htm
Yes, I have the index for Denton Co., TX. I have it loaned out right now to another researcher, but I believe it starts about 1885-1912 - by Diana White. The Martha I am looking for would have married John W. Hicks ca. 1870-71. Their first child that I know of is Lewis W. Hicks b. Nov. 1872 In the index Mrs. Martha Hicks married W.P. Johnson Jan 19, 1902, have sent for and received marriage record. Unfortunately nothing on it states her maiden name. Also have History and Reminiscences of Denton County, by Ed. F. Bates I have been very generously given photo's of Martha and some of her children including my g-grandmother ( Martha's daughter) Cora Lee "Hicks" Duncan by Jean B. Gonzales Do you know if any earlier marriage records still exist for Denton Co., TX?
