Jayne, the URL I is www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/mo/benton/1850/indx-r-z.txt. I am not a computer specialist nor even a good rookie and I try my best to communicate. I will make errors and I hope to get better at this stuff. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The URL I sent Harold, I copied from the bottom of a sheet which I downloaded some Wilson info. on. This info. was from Ed and Sandy Mackley's Mo. families dated 1-1-2000 which was obtained by using the URL above. You might try again, this address shown if it is different from the original message or you can go to the Roots Web Mogenweb and find counties, Benton Co., MO. is the county where I found this info.. Good searching. By the way Ed and Sandy Mackley deserve a big thanks for their contributions to the Mo. genealogy researchers. So thanks if you are reading these queries. Bob Wilson
Re: the URL there is two different URL's connected. that is why you can't get it. www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/mo/benton/1850/indx-r-z.txt. try that; it worked for me. Harold

Wilson found in the 1850 MO census because I've been looking for a James Wilson b. about 1845 MO with wife, Elizebeth (sic) b. about 1850 MO with both sets of parents born in KY (according to 1880 census). Census also shows children Lanora, Willis and Eddie, ages 9, 8, and 5, in Grand River, Cass, MO. Willis later married a Texas girl and ended up in OK. I don't have anything else on James siblings or Elizebeth's maiden name. Do we have a match? PS: I tried that URL and got a http 404 not found error message. Could you please confirm the website? Thanks, Jayne in Texas

My earliest know Wilson ancestor: James Wilson, b. 1767, probably VA. In his grandson's Bible, James' father is given as Robert. I looking for Wilsons who would have been in the VA area prior to 1767. Census records give James' birthplace as VA. His birhtplace is reported in a family Bible, as TN (which was not a state when he was born). There is a Robert Wilson who is found in the early TN settlements. Could this be your Robert mentioned in the Will? There is an area that was NC, VA and finally TN. For some time, there was a question as to which state included that geographic area. Lots of Scots of Ulster were there in that time period. James m. Sarah Mounts in Bath Co. VA , 1795. He was called "James of Jackson River"; that river is in the area of Bath and Greenbrier Co.s. There was a Wilson Settlement there. Sarah had a guardian who signed her marriage bond and she was b. in MD. By 1811, James and Sarah were purchasing land in the Big Sandy area of what is now Wayne Co. WV. Thanks for any consideration. Dee Wilson-Swain
Harold, I checked my notes when I saw your James K.. There doesn't seem to be to many James' with middle Initial K.. I guess thats why it stuck in my mind. Can you provide more info on Robert Wilson ? Birthdate..marriage, anything?
I was having problems also with all my lists for about 4 days last weekend. I sent a test message and nothing came across . So I subscribed again and things are back to normal. I couldnt stand not hearing from my lists even though I havent matched with anyone. I find the success stories, new links and ideas worth while. Here is one. I had been going back through my stuff trying to make folders and making sure I had a census for each sibling. I came across the 1880 census of John L. Wilson that had Mary Johns mother 84. It also had a grandson. How had I missed this before, except several times boarders or servants showed up and I over looked this one. Then I got intrigued whose mother is this. I put a note on genforum for her and someone answered with all my Wilsons back to the 1700s. Her real name was Mary B H Devericks Wilson and had married James Johns in 1832 after the death of her first husband William Wilson in 1829. > his father was Samuel and Jane Wilson of Bull Pasture Mountain, Pendleton County, Va. This person had researched all Wilsons in this area trying to decipher which one was her William Wilson. With this information I was able to find more researchers on ancestry.com for Devericks and Johns. Some of their Wilson information is contradictory, but that makes ! this worth more to look at the wills and deeds from another point of view.
