I don't know if my great-grandfather Eliga/Elijah Wilson married anyone in Savannah, Chatham, Georgia or not but there is a story that he lived with his wife there and she died in a house fire and then he is supposed to have "walked" to Pisgah, Jackson, Alabama and married a Sarah E. Stogsdill in May of 1869. He was born in South Carolina of unknown {to me } parents in ca. 1832/1835. I have no other information on him during that era. I only have information on him after 1869. His name was Eliga{as on the tombstone}/Elijah Wilson. I would appreciate any information that you could find on him about the possible marriage in Georgia. Nadine, is the index just for marriages in Emanuel Co.? My Wilson line is mainly from Bulloch so far that I have found. However the parents of "my" Joseph Wilson married Emmaline Bowen and I have not been able to locate their marriage information. Does anyone know anything about William and Elizabeth Wilson on 1860 Census in Blount Co. AL? My ggrandmother Isabell(e) Wilson McNutt and her sister Eliza(beth) Wilson McNutt married brothers. The McNutts were from Lawrence Co. AL and in 1840 their family was living near a William H. Wilson family in Lawrence Co. However, the William Wilson family does not show on 1850 or 1860 Lawrence Co censuses. The ages of this Wilson couple are about right to have been parents of my ggrandmother and her sister Elizabeth (as well as a family name). When my grandmother died in Comanche Co. TX about 1920 one of her sons signed off on the death certificate saying that her father was William Wilson of Alabama and he did not know her mother's name. William Wilson of Alabama is a formidable rock wall. If you have any information on this family in Bount Co or any other William Wilson's of approximately this age in Alabama, please let me know. If you have any extra William's from VA send him my way!!!!!!!! My William showed up in KY about 1830 and married, but we know nothing at all about him, before that. Lots of my family (my dad and his brothers and sisters) moved to Warren Co. Ohio from Madison County, KY in the 1940's.
