I have found some marriages not to be in the indexes. It may require looking through the actual record books to find the marriage. Other possibilities.... they may have jumped over a broomstick and the marriage not recorded.... could be a common law marriage. Have you looked through area newspapers to see if there was a marriage announcement? Larry, I have a Josiah Wilson who married a Margaret Crow. He was born abt. 1762 Craig's Creek, Augusta, Virginia. We think! Since his father died somewhere near we assumed he was born near there. His father was James Wilson the Elder. Anything ring a bell? Thanks for your kind offer, Nadine. Could you look up the marriage of John Thomas McCullough and Ellen Jane (or Jane Ellen) Wilson. He was born 1847 and she was born ca 1845. Their first child was born 1870 so I'd presume they got married ca 1869. I've been told they were married in Coshocton county OH and that's where they were both born. Again, thanks. Gloria

Word-of-mouth history from the early 1900's for my Wilson's had Wilson leaving southern Virginia for Ohio probably prior to the Civil War. I can not find any Wilson history further back than a Morgan Wilson in Virginia born around 1830. The earliest comprehensive history I have is from a William Hassell Wilson born around 1853. He settled near Danville Virginia an left numerous decendents. Word-of-mouth history also says that that William Hassell Wilson was dis-owned for some reason. He definitely had interests in the south during and after the Civil War. It is highly possible that his other relatives sided with the north. Note that he married Mary Howerton so if Wilson's and Howerton's are together in Ohio that may be a lead too. If you find Wilson's moving from Virginia to Ohio just prior or during the Civil War, I would like to know their names. Hi, My particular interest is Edward Wilson and Frances Evans. I have them as married 27 September 1827 in Early County GA. Their daughter Susan married Louis Mayer (Meyer) 18 March 1856 in Montgomery AL. I would be interested in any Wilsons in Early County GA in this Edward and Frances time frame.
