Looking for family of James S. Wilson. He is on the 1860 Upshur Co. VA. census, age 35. His wife is Ann E. Not sure of her last name. James S. Wilson dies between the 1860 and 1870 Upshur Co. census. Looks like he died at Andersonville Prison, Dec. 1863. James S. Wilson names his first son James Lee Wilson. The only James Wilson I find on the 1850 VA. census that was born around 1824-25 is a James Wilson, 25, living with his parents, father James, age 53, in Rockbridge Co. Did this family move to the Upshur Co. area? Al Wilson

Make sure you have .html on the end of the address if using the familytreemaker version. The link will fail without it. It also uses Java to run the tree. Looking for the Wilson line that started back in Ireland, unsure of location. William Wilson married to someone named Sarah ( native of County Monaghan Ireland). Both born in Ireland in the 1700's. Unsure of Williams death date, Sarah is bured in York County which is Toronto now or known also as Scarborough. William had two sons named Hugh and Joseph and down the line it goes. Will need to look up notes to get dates. Any info would be great if there is someone who has relatives in York County or even Markham Ontario. Diana
Hoping to find a marriage or marriages for JOSEPH WHITE or WHYTE anytime between 1820 and 1840, possibly in Monroe County, KY. One wife's name was Salina, but there may have been more than one wife. Thanks, Nadine.

My brother, Doyle WILSON has his DNA registered with Family Tree DNA and I believe is also part of the WILSON DNA group?? When I check with Family Tree DNA he has several "almost" matches with names other than WILSON and no WILSON names show up on his file. I must have not checked the right box? I believe I was getting information from Steven Zuraff as the WILSON DNA administrator. Doyle has 21 markers and we are planning to upgrade it to the next level. If somehow Doyle WILSON has slipped off the list...or a new WILSON DNA list has been formed let me know what I should do. I believe this is the only way I am going to chase down my Abram WILSON. Nadine, You are fantastic to be checking the info for all of us WILSONS. I am just now getting back on line and anxious to see if you still check census records for Indiana & Illinois. Abram WILSON (could be Abraham WILSON, A WILSON or could have been misunderstood as Adam WILSON) born probably 1842.......(1840 - 1844)...in Indiana or Illinois. Father & mother born Indiana. Mother's name was Martha Abram WILSON was in Illinois in 1860 & enlisted in the Civil War in 1861 at Summerfield, (St. Clair Co) Illinois in Capt Tipton's Co. E, 2nd Reg. Illinois Cavalry....Abram furnished his own horse. After being discharged from the Civil War he went to Texas Co., MO and married Cornelia Mary COLVIN. They named their children: Manerva Jane Oliver Mahlon (Mahlon was wife's uncle's name) Silvester Young (Young was his wife's father's name) Martha Abram (Martha after his mother ) I don't know whether or not Manerva Jane, Oliver or Sylvester could have been family names for Abram??? (Father, siblings, etc??) Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any one wants more more info I will supply. Thanks. Ethelmae (WILSON) PAGE
Hello Ed, Been hard at work with James L. Wilson. Found that my James L. is not the James L. from Barbour. His family is from Upshur, I had not found the census with them on it. My James is the son of James S. Wilson. James L. in Barbour, I could not find after 1850. This is why I thought that a James L. I find in Upshur was him. But I found a book: Barbour County West Virginia-Book of Deaths 1, 1853-1919 and Will Books 1 and 1 ½, 1839-1889, Mary S. Coffman, Heritage Books, Inc. In this book is a transcribed Will for William Friend Wilson. P 101-104 Will dated 3-22-1857 Probated 4-13-1857 List his children. So there is no doubt about him. There is also a transcribed will for his son Rezin B. Wilson. Page 300 Will dated 8-4-1865 ( this is why I think Daniel is dead and his kids may have been split up, Rezin does not mention him in 1865) Probated 12-13-1878. He must not have married. No wife mentioned. He does not list all his siblings, so I presume some are dead. Including Daniel, father of James L. Rezin leaves a cottage and 4 acres in Philippi to sister Sarah. Also brother Lewis is named as Executor. But Alpheus is substituted when it is probated. Maybe Lewis also died before 1878. This leads me to do a search by age for James L. Wilson. The James L. in Barbour Co. is 2 years old on the 1850 census. I find on a 1860 census a William Wilson, age 26, Elizabeth J., age 22, John E., age 2, James L., age 12. They are listed in this order. This William is obviously raising someone elses son. He is to young for James L. to be his. This William Wilson is on the 1860 Hardy Co. census. Hardy Co. is where William Wilson Sr. died. Just some info for someone that might be searching this family. Al Wilson
