Hi Nina, Thanks anyway, but I had Ancestry.com for awhile & it lists David L. May on there, but I think the info might be wrong. It says he was born in Hardin or Nelson Co. in 1802-06. I went to both counties & had help from the genealogist there, but we could not find any records of that family. I don't know What the deal is, but I was very disapointed! My husband & I spent our vacation looking. We travelled from Alabama to Kentucky. The genealogist said that about 2% of the records on Ancestry.com are accurate.Plus, it does not list the one peice of info I really want: the names of David L. May's parents. At least it did not when I had it. Cindy
If we are going to continue these emails, can we at least use "site" instead of "sight?" P. Marino
Hi Cindy No I don't. Sorry. Do you want me to look for you ancestry.com.? Looking for information on a Thomas Wilson, born in TN about 1815 who moved to central MO. about 1835 and married a Mary Ann Davis (second wife) about 1838. He died about 1845 in MO. Thomas and Mary had a son, Thomas Ashley Wilson, born in MO. in 1841 and two daughters, Lumina and Caroline (?). Thomas Ashley Wilson served for the Confederate cause and was wounded in 1864 during the Battle of Atlanta. He married Nancy Jane Kenner about 1865 and they had 10 children. Both died and are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Maries County, MO. If anyone can help me tie the elder Thomas Wilson to his family in TN - parents, siblings, first wife, etc., I would be most grateful. Thanks...
This Wilson too, would like to be invited in the sincere hope that someone in that group has "the clue" to finding "the" Wilson ancestor in New York City. Roger W. Wilson
Emma, I would like an invation to JOIN the Wilson site. My Wilson's goes back past, Col. John (Burgess) Wilson. Jimmy Hungerford [email protected]
Karol, Do you happen to know James middle name or his birth date. My brickwall is James Armstrong Wilson, b. 1814 in IN. As the story goes he was in the Merchant Marine and came down MS River, got off the boat, and was walking back home through the state of MS when he met my GGGrandmother, Sarah Jane Hubbard. He went to work on her father's farm, and settled in Lawrence County, MS. He is my GGGrandfather and that is all the information we have. We don't even know what area of IN. Is anyone related to the Wilson line that was in Greene Co., TN from about 1850 to 1900? This line was in Augusta and Washington Co., VA from the mid 1700's or earlier. Some stayed in VA and others went to KY and TN. Some names are Joel, Thomas, John, Robert, Elizabeth, Sarah, Margaret and Francis. A couple of surnames connected to this line is McCauley and Dryden. Darrell Holt
You can't get there without an invite people. I belong to it. If you type in Myfamily.com you'll understand. Many people have sites on this page. I belong to the Wilson, Meadows and Wylie families on this site. You have to be invited then you get in with a password and login name. It is to keep spam and virus's out, etc. Plus it is more intense than just an email list. You can share pictures, etc. AND, whoever it was that offered the invite told you all to email her privately to keep all this off the list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Wilson" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 9:33 PM Subject: RE: [WILSON-L] WILSON SIGHT ON MY FAMILY.COM > Can you just post the address for the Wilson site on the message board so > everyone can check it out ? Can you all please email the person off list regarding being invited to myfamily.com Please Gale Prince Nash
I am researching Daniel Wilson from Preble Co. Ohio. There seem to be a preponderance of Daniel Willson/Wilson's so it is hard to track him down. He is my 3x great grandfather. I have no birth or death date for him and no parentage. His oldest daughter, Mary Ann Wilson Blake, was born about 1822 in Ohio. His wife, Catherine Rock, was born in 1796 in South Carolina. According to the 1880 census for Mary Ann Wilson Blake her parents were both born in South Carolina. The name has variously been spelled Willson or Wilson. According to family records Daniel may have drowned in the mid 1840's. Other known children of his include James Riley Wilson/Willson, Thomas Wilson/Willson. Many of the children and their families ended up moving to Louisa Co. Iowa late 1840's I have found a Daniel Willson in the 1840 census in Israel Township, Preble Co. OH. It may matchup with the Daniel that I am looking for. If this is our Daniel his age at that time would have been between 50 and 60. There is a female listed that would match Catherine's age at that time...between 40 and 50 years of age. Has anyone on the list researched or claimed this Daniel Willson from the 1840 census? .
Emma I, too, would like to join the Wilson family site. I am a member of the Vinyard Family site, which joined with the Wilsons in VA in 1831 with marriage of Zedekia Wilson to Eliza Jane Vinyard. My Great Grandmother was Susan Elizabeth Wilson of Blacksburg, VA, Zedekia's daughter. Al Friedel Cincinnati, OH
In a message dated 1/19/2005 3:08:48 P.M. Central Standard Time, [email protected] writes: A bastard bond was found in Anderson Co for a Nancy Wilson and a ? Massengill.. I have not been able to find a copy of this bond.. Anyone know of this line? The following info is for the individual who wrote about the Anderson Co., TN Nancy Wilson lady. I recently spent some time in the TN State Archives, looking in the Anderson Co., TN book section where I found the old court records of Anderson Co., TN. The Archives also have the same info on tapes. "11 June 1805: Ordered by the court that Soloman Massengale Esquire be bound in recognizance in the sum of five hundred dollars for Allen Massengale a minor to endemnify the county of Anderson from the maintenance of a bastard child begotten on the body of Nancy Wilson by the said Allen Massengale." My Wilson were in Anderson Co. TN in the same time frame. My line is thru James Wilson who married ca 1760 Lucretia Griffith d/o Methusalem and Lucretia Griffith. Their children are as follows: Elizabeth Wilson, b. 13 Jul 1761, m. Jehu Lawler Ann Wilson b. 3 Jun 1764, may have married a Baker in Madison Co., AL as Nancy Wilson Lucretia Wilson b. 17 Jan 1767, may have married Joel Hancock Mary Wilson b. 4 Jun 1769, could be Polly Wilson in the records of Madison Co., AL Benjamin Wilson b. 6 Sep 1773, m. Hannah Harless Jesse Wilson b. 10 Fe 1776, m. Elizabeth maiden name ukn Hannah Wilson b. 11 Jun 1779, m. Thomas Frost Jr. Soloman Massengale with son Allen, along with the Frost, Lawlers, Harless, Hancock, Blevins, and other related names all moved together to Madison Co., AL ca 1809 timeframe. This group of surnames all moved together with my Wilsons into TN, then into Alabama. I do not know if the Nancy Wilson in the Soloman Massengale court case is related to my line of Wilsons, and Nancy was a common name, but I thought it was interesting that your Nancy named a son Jesse. Jesse Wilson of the family of James Wilson was my ancestor. Thanks Ann Corum
Emma I would like an invitation to join the Wilson Family Site. My husband is descended from George McKamey. and Sarah Jane Alexander Wilson I believe George's great great grandparents to be George and Misaniah Wilson from the Anson North Carolina area in the 1770's time period. I have no documentation for this although I have been working on this line for a number of years. This line has been the thorn in my side. Gladys Wilson
