My wife Jeanne is the Wilman in our family, and is a decendent of Isaac Wilman 1794-1871. Isaac, and his wife Mary Norfolk, resided in Dewsbury, and had 2 sons Charles and John. John had 5 or 6 children, one of whom was Charles Norfolk Wilman 1845-1874. Charles left Dewsbury and moved to London. Charles Norfolk is my wifes Great Grandfather. If your husband has any ties to Dewsbury, I'm sure there must be a connection, and if you have any info prior to Isaac, I would surely appreciate it. In the event you have a connection, I would be happy to share my tree with you. Regards ken kreed1929@hotmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My partner is from Leeds, West Yorkshire. His name is Marvin Wilman, son of Barabara and Philip Wilman. Philip's dad was Albert Wilman, and sadly died last year. It would be interesting to find out whether the 2 families are linked? Many Thanks Jenna Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VaWBAEB/3.2 Message Board Post: In the year 1867 my gr.-gr.-grandparents Friedrich/Frederick Willmann (*17.8.1834 in Gnoien) and Sophie/Lena Willmann (maiden name Rathsack, *21.11.1832 in Strohkirchen) emigrated from Gnoien in Mecklenburg/Germany to America with their three youngest children Friedrich/Frederick (*ab. 1860), Auguste(a) (*ab. 1863) and Wilhelm/William (*ab. 1866) leaving their eldest daughter (my gr.-grandmother Sophie) in Germany. The family arrived in New York on Aug. 26th,1867. In the 1880 United States Census I have found the family (now written as “Wilman”) in Utica/Oneida County/New York with two more children: Charles (*ab. 1869 in NY) and Louisa (*ab. 1871 in NY). After that I did not find any more information in the 1890 Census or other sources about the family (perhaps I made some mistakes when looking online into the 1890 Census data).
