Hello Willis listers. Here's a tidbit I found in Pomeroy, Meigs Co. OH today. It might be of help to someone else until I can tie him in to my Willis family from Meigs Co. PROBATE COURT The State of Ohio Meigs Co. Personally appeared before me, the undersigned, Probate Judge and Ex-Officio Clerk of the Probate Court, within and for the County of Meigs aforesaid, John Willis a native of England, aged about 32 years, bearing allegiance to the Queen of Great Britain who emigrated from Liverpool on the 12th day of August, 1851, and arrived at the port of New York on the 17th day of Sept., 1851, and who intends to reside within the jurisdiction and under the GOVERNMENT of the UNITED STATES, to wit: Pomeroy Ohio, and he makes report of himself for NATURALIZATION, and declares, on oath, that it is bona fide his intention to become a CITIZEN of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, and to forever renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every FOREIGN PRINCE, POTENTATE, STATE and SOVEREIGNTY whatsoever, and particularly VICTORIA.
