    1. RE: Monacan--vs---Cherokee------Where do we go from here?
    2. Elizabeth G. Brett
    3. Thank you for forwarding all of this information. What a great help! Monacan or Cherokee?...the names are neither...they are European :) Willis also shows up in Choctaw lines as I recall. Many names are consistent for several tribes. Tribes also intermarried and had begun adopting the European traditions of passing on surnames. I've been doing quite a bit of Native American genealogical research myself...but NO expert am I. Keep doing what you are doing...you are appreciated. Elizabeth PS Still looking for the Willis - second husband of Sallie CASTEEL (French, Portuguese, Dutch, Cherokee, Melugeon, Creek and Choctaw are all possible links to this name) BRETT (definite Cherokee links with VANN). Sallie Casteel was daughter of Mary A. Grayson (Scotch, Cherokee, Creek possible name links) One of three sons was named Willard. -----Original Message----- From: BrightStar9136@aol.com [mailto:BrightStar9136@aol.com] Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 5:28 PM To: WILLIS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Monacan--vs---Cherokee------Where do we go from here? --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
