My WILLISs originated out of Northumberland and Durham Counties in England. They are mostly coal miners and many left England looking for more or better work. I've found living cousins in Australia! My great grandparents, George Sanderson WILLIS and his wife Mary Jane BERRY, emigrated with their children around mid to late 1880 and settled in Iowa. George died 11 years laters in an Iowa coal mining accident, leaving Mary Jane with 9 children ranging in age from 6 months to 16 years (They had a child about every 1 to 2 years! I can't imagine being pregnant for 16 years straight!) While my grandfather, John Frederick WILLIS married a Danish woman in North Dakota, Nelsia Magdalene PETERSON (changed from EIERSTED), and moved to Washington State, I believe most of his siblings stayed around Iowa. I would dearly love to find the descendants of these children.
