I just heard from my mother who think that there was also a Willis half-sister who married a dentist and had twin girls. She thought that two of the brothers went to Panama with my grandfather when he took a job as Post Master General of the Panama Canal Zone when it was being built. One brother died in a bar brawl...possibly in Panama. Sallie Casteel Brett Willis and Mr. Willis moved from the MS area in a wexterly direction. She thought TX, but I have letters from Sallie when she was in KY. This is not my mother's family so her memories may be slightly off as my grandfather died in the early 1960's at the age of 88. The brothers were not much younger. Elizabeth -----Original Message----- From: Elizabeth G. You might get more useful responses if you would add a couple of things. 1. Where were these people living, especially Carl J. Willis? 2. How are you connected? ----- Original Message ----- From: <ballhawk12@att.net> To: <WILLIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 9:50 PM Subject: LOOKING FOR RELATIVES > Am looking for anyone with connections to the > following branch of my family tree. Looking for my great grandmothers family. I do not have parents for Lucy Willis living in Kennett, Dunklin Co., MO around early 1900's. She married Clinton Sylvester Busby and probably died around the 1970's in MO. Her siblings are Ambrose, Bud, Hattie, Eddie May and Gertie(Gertrude). I know they were Scottish and she had red hair and a strong acsent. Any help would be so great. Were Ava's ages in the 1850, 1860, 1870 censuses approximately in agreement with your birth date of January, 1835? (You say 18 in 1850, so that's 3 years off for most of the year of 1850.) Do you have or can you get the marriage bond for Mary Willis to George Fields? Often the bond will say whether or not it is a first marriage. Same question for Ava and Hiram. The children living with Ava and Hiram don't have to belong (by birth) to either of them. Families often took in children from related families who had lost parents by sickness, etc. Three of my grandparents, for instance, were raised as "orphans" when their mothers died young. They were all raised by aunts. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PammiPooh@aol.com> To: <WILLIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 22, 2002 4:08 PM Subject: Willis/Fields/Russells > > 1 Mary Polly Willis b: 1804 > .. +George Fields b: 1804 d: Abt. 1880 in Union County, TN. > ....... 2 Ava J.
