    3. I am sure for those that are experienced with creating a GEDCOM it is probably a no brainer to do so. Somehow I feel much better knowing that others are having problems with the process. My husband and I spent all of Sun.a.m. working on setting up a GEDCOM. The instructions that Adrian posted are excellent. Creating the GEDCOM wasn't difficult. The problem we encountered was trying to exclude the notes and trying to include only Williams descendants since we have lines other than Williams. We followed the directions to exclude the notes exactly. When we submitted the file their were 6,000 names and the notes were included. After an hour of sheer panic, I emailed the list for help. Adrian removed the file. This was our second attempt at creating a GEDCOM, both times with the same results. I am in the process of creating a new file with only Williams descendants and no notes and will create a GEDCOM from that file. The only problem then will be having the confidence to submit the file. 3. Hi Gayle, Paul's instructions were really well done for carving out a Gedcom from Family Tree Maker. I did end up, after two submissions that Adrian kindly deleted for me, setting up a new file, as you mentioned. The safety of that is that after you have copied the folks into it from your main file, you can look through it from one end to another and determine if you need to delete a person, or line. Also, you can continue to copy folks into it. Once you are satisfied with the results, then, using Paul's instructions, make a Gedcom from the entire file. You can upload it with full confidence. I think mine has 75 people in it, down from 6,000+ on my first try. Good luck!
